I just bought a 2008 G6 GT and would soon like to upgrade to a GXP. I know the starter on a Cadillac SRX with 3.6 is under the intake manifold just like my 93 Lexus SC400. Wanting to make sure its not n the G6 GXP.
I don't have a GXP nor a 3.6. But, according to my electronic manual, the 2008 G6 with the 3.6 liter motor (LY7) has the starter mounted conventionally alongside the lower block on the radiator side of the motor.
That said, the instructions call for removing the cat in order to access the starter. That sux. On my 3.5L G6, I've had to remove that cat (for oil pan replacement) and it was not fun. The exhaust bolts can be very uncooperative
Thank you so much for the info. As long as I dont have to pull the intake manifold..
