Do you notice this when the car is running or off? This is usually normal when the car is off.

I know my Grand Am GT and Firebird were the same way. If you operated a power drivers seat, the height adjustor, ran the windows, or anything like that, the lights would slightly get dimmer.

I dont think its anything to worry about, but I know nothing about electrical stuff, leave it to the gurus.

Same thing happens my house lights when the fridge or ac turns on :)

My last GM's where: 89 Cutlass Suprem International -92 Z-24 - 95 Sunfire GT - 98 Sunfire GT - 2001 Grand Am GT - 2006 G6 GTP.... They all did the same. When you press the door lock button, it requires some additionnal electricity. Don't worry.

Thanks everyone for the reply. So it seems it's nothing serious, so I'll leave it till next time when I do the oil change.

A day or so after I picked up my 06 G6 GT I noticed the maplights weren't working. Eventually I realized they'd turn on, but only if my interior lights were on. As the entry lights dimmed, so did the maplights. Once the interior lights were off, the map lights failed to work.

I took it to the dealership and apparently made one of their tech's days very miserable. When I came to check on my car at the end of the day, the rear seat was sitting on the back windshield, and the tech was crawling around in my trunk. It was an electrical problem and he apparently had to tear my entire car apart to find the source.

Luckily it was able to fix it once he located it, and the car is back to normal.

Sounds like the ground wire to the map lights was "open circuit". Those lamps require a separate ground when you try to turn them on manually. Depending on where the problem occurred it might have required removal of headliner to trace circuits.

Too bad you didn't post here first. We might have give the technician a few pointers :D
