What should I do, i am comfused on what is going to sound better and add more HP, the cold air intake or the cold air box? anyone have suggestions or clips or slips to prove HP gains at all?

My boyfriend as a 2006 G6 V6 and I wanted to get him a Doctor Speed CAI for Christmas. My question is: what is the difference between the CAI’s on the web site: Cold Air Box and Stage 3. I also wanted to know if there are issues with the CAI triggering the Check Engine Light. I’ve been reading about other intakes, Weapon R and Ingen that are triggering the CEL. Could you tell me why a CAI would throw a code and what to do if it happens. I was assuming that putting in a CAI would void the warrantee on the car is that correct? Also how does the CAI effect hp. Just wondering if you had an estimate on the gains.

Well good luck with getting it before x-mass at least the stage 3 that is. Kyle(doctorspeed) has been having some troubles recently I am not sure how fast people are getting there stuff now though since it was a little bit ago when he was having some troubles. The difference between the Stage 3 intake and the CAB is simply where you place the intake. The stage 3 is a fenderwell intake, you have to take out the resonator that is already there and that can be somewhat of a pain. The Cab sits where the stock airbox used to be and shields the k&n filter from the engine heat. There is also a intake from MP racing, and CRAB Incorporated(this one you won't find on the web it is custom cab that is designed for use with the MPD hood but can be used without it just as well). This won't void your vehicles warranty just the warranty on the parts of the intake system you remove, you can always put them back in though. If you want to talk to rob(Lampoon) he is a mod over at g6performance he makes the Crab Intakes.

Looks like im going to go with the CAB. Is there anyway of getting in touch with Kyle at Doctor Speed so he can confirm the order? My concern is that it wont get here for Christmas.
