If you look at the stock head units on both the G6 and Equnox the two are identical (same with the Malibu Maxx) here are some pics I found of an in dash DVD player...

yeah.. and the cobalt is basically the same too.. if what you were getting at is that you can install with one of those kits.. yeah.. but.. the problem is that you lose all that info.. that's why everyone is waiting for the Metra 33-9903 to come out.. which puts the driver information center where that pocket in the kit is.. without this kit installed.. you don't have your trips, oil guage, mpg, fuel range.. can't change your RKE options, your light options.. it would really suck to replace the headunit without the driver information center kit..

In theory it should because all that data is on the same databus.
