I thought it would be fun see the cars people have raced in there G6
so far I have only raced two a Lancer wich was easy to beat and a BMW 535i
this guy tried me at a light I thought he would win but I pulled on him by almost a car which suprised me.
by the way my car is a 06 G6 GT with exhaust and K&N Typhoon.
I usually race in Manual 1-2 gear then put it in drive at the top of second that seems to work good for me it stays in second till like 80 before it hits third.I also take traction control off . so lets hear some of the other guys stories what have you raced and how do you do it ?

I have lost to a Mazda6 once, just barely. It was a close race. Mine is a base 2007 G6 V6.

Now I'm looking for any reason for my wife and I to take two cars somewhere! Zoom Zoom or bust!!!!!!!!!!

and the 07 mustang GT's are quick dont get me wrong, i won that race by a fender. The driver didnt know how to drive it that well. Im sure if i race someone who knows how to drive a stick they would beat me. Not by that much though. The new model mustangs are heavier than the older ones.

You're a riot. You sure the GTO wasn't a Cavalier, or a Grand-AM? :cool: I'd be embarrassed to take on a G6, that would be like beating up someone in a wheel chair, there is no point to it. :eek: If you said you were in a G8 I wouldn't be laughing so hard.:crazy:

I've been beaten sitting at a light by Hondas, Subarus, Cobalts, Lancers etc. They all had one thing in common.... FART CANS. Would I get beat if I took them on, probably... It's hard to control 0-60 in 4 seconds with tears running down your face and your guts giving you stomach cramps from it all.

The last time I REALLY raced anyone was a long time ago. Back in the days of 280 duration cams, four speed trans, 5-13 rear-ends, four barrel double pumper Hollys with the nice and wide "Pro Trac 50s" or "Mickey Thomson 33s" burning up the road. I like to watch folks race now. Too much at stake for me to blow anything that means I'll have to fork over extra cash.
But I'll have fun while some of you other folks "Kick a$$ and take names :cool:".

I've raced a few cars, can really only win starting from a dead stop, can't get enough torque ina rolling race. Last race that i did was against a pontiac firebird, rolling about 40 to start. He beat me just by a fender when we let up going about 100mph.

It was a definitely a gto, i swear i saw the guy crying but i cant confirm that. There are some stupid mother truckers in my town. They will race anything with two wheels. Plus i was kind of eggin' the guy in the gto on by reving next to him and passing him.

I do believe that would be the saddest day of his life, hands down.

well, now that thats settled. Definitely almost got a ticket for speeding while cruising with some buddies in the backroads around my town. everyone else received tickets, 5 of them, except me. those damn county sheriffs.

Just raced a honda civic SI yesterday. Now that was fun. They are freakin quick, but i still beat him.

I'm starting to think that there are a select few good drivers in my town and the rest of them just suck.

The only way a g6 would beat a gto is if the guy in the gto didnt realize it was even a race!!!! Even then, the g6 would have his hands full!!!:rolleyes:

not really, he knew he was racing me. we came to a complete stop and then start. but if you didnt realy earlier in the thread the driver missed 2nd gear and almost stalled his gto.

I have raced a 07 Cobalt ls and beat him which hated cuz he was beat by a GIRL, LMAO:) but i went to the track last nite and i ran my G6 in the 1/8 mile im doing 10.9 but in the 1/4 im doing 16.7. but ill scan my sheet in to my computer and post for u guys to look at it and maybe help understand it lol.

Wow, this thread is crazy. I've got a 2008 G6 GXP and I wouldn't even think of taking on a GTO, or any muscle car for that matter, nor anything with an aftermarket turbo setup, because I'm smart.

Anyway what I have raced, which is not many cause I don't like racing on the streets its dangerous and stupid, but sometimes necessary....

I raced a Porsche Boxter Convertible (heavy and underpowered mind you) I won that one.

Also raced (or tried to race I should say) a 350Z it kicked my ass.

Anyway, that is all so far. more to come when I get her to the track.

P.s. right now it's stock, soon to have a K&N drop in and eventually a ram-air set-up if I can find the hood I want, which I can't, and eventually cat back.

i went to a track day up at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota and passed a porsche boxter mutiple times. i dont know if he wasnt driving it hard but i passed him more than anyone. there were some sick cars out there to, two ford gt40's bunch of bmws,those things are fast, and gtos, firebirds, and a kid in a civic del sol that was flying by most of the cars listed above. he was behind me and i didnt think much of it because it was like a 92 del sol and then he blew by me and i couldnt believe it. this was on the road course by the way not the drag strip. i got up to 130 on the straitaway, that was fun.

Ive raced a couple cars so far. The ones I have beaten have been a 01' BMW 330i, Honda Civic SI, 2002 Mustang, Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and have been spanked by a Pontiac GTO which I didn't even stand a chance.

lets see i raced a focus zx3... that was a laugh and some lexus from the 90s. i dont know what kind it was but uhh not the fast kind lol. people are silly:D. at least i havnt lost. i got a 07 g6 vert with exhaust, intake, tune.

I've had my 6 for almost 2 years now and have had plenty of races, won some lost some but I think my favorite one was against a Beretta GTZ with a high output quad 4 he had a header, high flow cat/full exhaust, intake, bigger cams, injectors. any way it was a perfect example of "built not bought" cuz all together with car and parts it was a little under 3 grand and I had just paid 19 grand for my 6 and was feeling pretty cocky we ran once from a dig... got smoked then from a roll and I got smoked again:mad:

Never really race-raced anybody, but did keep up with an idiot that was tailgating me in a riced-up 90s Lexus on 81. That's the only time I got it up to 125.

I really want to find a nice long straightaway on a track so I can see how fast my car goes....:mad::(:(:( The only problem is there is no place to do that around here!!!! I raced an impala ltz (stock 230 hp i think) and I won by a few car lengths, which was a lot for the short distance we raced. I have an exhaust, dyno tune, and CAI.

i took on a trans am with exhaust (my friend so i know he was all the way in it) and he took me by half a car from a stop and about a length on the highway. i have a 07 g6 gt with CAI, exhaust, tune, racing spark plugs and custom wires from MSD, all royal purple synthetic fluids. thats probably the most exciting race ive had.

First find a car that can go 150.:D The 6 can do 150 if you have a tune that takes off the limiter and about 5 miles of track along with your other mods. even then still might not do it. Also, too much snow right now.:p

Yeah i know LOL:D I was hoping it would go around 150, but right now with the snow, aint gonna happen. I dont think the winter tires could handle that speed anyway.

the only place i can think of is new england dragway. it's in southern nh.
they have a 1/4 i think, not sure. bf says they might have a 1/2 as well.

but off the top of my head thats the only place around. every goes up there on the weekends :)

My old car went 135 and it was just a 1.8 liter turbo so I want to see if my 6 is faster

ive had my 08 gt to 105mph and the limiter kicked in unfortunately,(how do you get it removed?) wanted to know what the 6 will do on a stock engine, my old 92 corrolla would do 112 the the engine would not put out anymore. Raced my friends intrigue a time or two very close races he won by at most a half a car. Raced a fart cannon civic one time that thought he was being bad ass after i got through the intersection i let off, he hadn't moved maybe half way thought. lol

A tune will elim the governor, but he'll only do it if you have the tires that are rated for the speed. (not the stock tires)

If you lost to a ford lightning then you lost to a 07 mustang gt and i know you really got spanked by a 2500 duramax with a 150 hp chip the torque in a duramax is 650lb/ft to 800lb/ft and the hp is 600 and you add another 150 on that you have no chance in hell. I got alot of mods on my 6 and i know for a fact i cant bet a duramax so i say they were sitting still or you dream to much.

I have never raced my 6 but when I was younger and a lot more reckless I raced a few other cars.

First car was an 88 Mercury Cougar Ls 5.0 I raced a few people in that. Beat several newer cougars and one mustang but it was a busted up POS. The next car was a dog so I never raced it. (Chevy Caprice with 305 V8 4 barrel carb tuned for "efficiency")

My last car before the G6 was a 95 Saturn SW2 and I raced a few different cars in that. I beat a stock 68 Camaro RS between two sets of stop lights, and he was PISSED.
It can't feel good to get stomped on by a 4 cylinder plastic station wagon! I also raced a few friends. Beat the guy in a cavalier, no surprise there. Beat my brother in a ford Ranger, but got BEAT by him in a 92 Buick Century with a 3.3Liter V6, that thing was a bit of a sleeper. looked like a granny car, handled like a granny car, straight line jumped like a dragster.

The fastest I ever drove was in the Cougar. I had to convert from metric because the digital dash wouldn't indicate more than 85 mph but if you switched to KMH it would go as high as the car would push. I think I hit about 135 on a very straight stretch of highway in early morning when nobody was on the road and it was cool out, probably about 45 or 50 degrees F.

The Satty and I raced a mid eighties camaro once on the highway up to the limiter at 110 MPH. Then he took off.
Before that point I'd never heard of a speed limiter in a car. I was not happy at all about having more power but not being allowed to go any faster. Probably saved my life though:D.

Anyway. The G6 is too nice to beat on, it drives nice and I can pass just about anybody. Yesterday this idiot in a shit brown PT cruiser wanted to race me on the highway. I pushed it up to about 85, then let off. He took off and about three miles later I see him off to the side with a cop walking up to his window. I just smiled and rolled on by and said a little prayer thanking God it wasn't me.

Before the 6 I had a 2001 Chevy Lumina 3.1L. You may laugh but it was incredibile how fast that thing could get up to the limiter at 110. For having less than 200 hp and being big and bulky it was pretty fast for me.

Only really raced a 90s grand am in it (not on purpose) but I needed to get in front of him and he was being a jerk, so I floored it.

I don't race my G6 GT, it's only 200hp or so and the power to weight ratio isn't all that good either. It's a family sedan!

All I do is keep the engine on boil (2500-3000rpm), as the thing that ticks me off the most is that I'll be cruising along at say 5mph over the limit, NO one behind me, and from far back a minivan or some other idiot driving like an idiot (uh huh) sees their exit coming up ahead of me so they'll hammer down to try and pass to get off the highway doing 80, when they have to slam on the binders as the exit ramp is only 25mph and I'll speed up and stay along side them, forcing them to brake early and cue up like they should have in the first place. Generally, I try not to 'play' with the idiots only because I sink down to their level, but occasionally it's good fun!

I call them "winners". It's common place around my area as 31% of the population is foreign, and half of them don't have a valid drivers license let alone insurance, and they still drive like buffoons.

This is what I deal with REGULARLY in Ontario: I was cruising along Highway 6 toward Mount Forest, ON when an older grand caravan passed me over a double yellow line going up a hill. It was a foreign woman with a few kids in the back. The back seats were removed and they were jumping around in the back of the van. I had thought that she was going to lose control the way it was swerving. She nearly hit head on with a school bus that was beginning to appear over the hill. It's because of these idiots that us North Americans don't have the luxury of a high speed highway, like the Autobahn in Europe. I think it would be a good change of pace, but people wouldn't obey anything even if they ran over it and told a cop that they never saw that sign in the first place.

Well, i got my 6 up to 110 on a bypass around a small town near where i live, and im guessing thats my limiter, although i was running out of road, id love to top out that 140 that my speedo actually registers. I was driving 80 on it today, and my friend passed my in his civic doing close to 130 (mind you hes got a well built everything under the hood, close to 300hp)

I have raced probably 30+ cars from volvo's to bmw's to asian tuners to escalde's. I have really only lost to a Nissan 350Z and a 6.6 L Turbo Diesel Duramax Truck with a programmer.

The TDI was the car I was going to buy before I went with the G6. The only thing that stopped me, ok, besides the $30K+ out-the-door price tag, was that I could not get the options I wanted in any car delivered to the Western U.S.

Amazing what they can do with Diesel engines, eh? That and over 40 MPG... And the automatic is just about as fast as the 5-speed with the Dual Synchro Gearbox.

I took on a Porsche Cayenne S without a problem a couple of weeks ago.

i raced one of those new civic si's from a stop down in houston and it was neck and neck. i dont think it couldve been any closer. i think that race would come down to the driver and reaction time and all that good stuff.

I usually never race people. THey always dont even try, or care. But then again i dont look for any.
2 where while merging ford torus Looked like he wasnt moving even though he was trying to pull some BS on me in a merge and i just took of no suprise there.
08 accord coupe beat me to a merge very close be he took the prize
And to my suprise i beat a acura integra . All i know was it was a manual with a fart can.
My favorite race. He was messin around for a good stretch with me. Thinking he had me.
THen the light. But the accord was before i had exhaust. So not sure if that would make a diffrence.

I pick my battles though based on the type of car and the overall weight/size estimate. Sometime I test my ability with the bigger boys but not too often. Basically my theory is the larger or heavier the opponent is the better chance I have in beating them

full-on drag raced an 04 mustang GT yesterday. mind you im in automatic, with traction control on, and still managed to spin those tires. took off, had him by quite a bit while he was still roasting his tries, he caught up for a second, but i got him in the long run. Distance of the race was about 1/3 of a mile or so. And i say full on drag racing because the cops were called, and now my car will be sitting in the garage for a couple of months. :(

Not much of a racer with other cars but i raced a GMC jimmy cuz he wanted too but i killed the Jimmy and a Dodge neon was trying to be fast so i showed him up and beat his ass. Havent raced much since i drive my car like a grandma. Maybe once she's paid off i might unleash the netted lead foot.

Lets leave cobalts out of this, I know for a fact there are many cobalts out there running stock turbos with mods that will walk your GTO. GTOs can't beat STI's sadly, poor excuse for cars, shoulda kept on with the Trans Am AKA Pontiac's greatest creation ever. Also, unless you have an 05-06 GTO with an LS2 you aren't doing much

Just bought a 2007 G6 with the 3.5, had it about a week so I haven't raced anyone yet but I can wait to test it out against some of the ricer wanks around here. Have to wait when the wife and kids are not with me, I am not about to risk them. I plan on hitting I-17 today alone so perhaps I will be back with a post.

We were on a really curvy back country road so i really took him on the stability.

I haven't had my car for long, but being a high school kid and finally having a car that has quite a bit of get up and go I try to race all of the ricers that hang around my town. People hear assume that putting a fart can and stickers on your car makes it go faster than a jet. but so far I have raced my friends 2000 grand prix, won. along with some cavaliers, honda, and some of my friends trucks that are chipped. I also was messing with a vette and the new camaro, but you all should know those out comes haha.

raced a 2001 passat with a turbo...i did end up winning but i got lucky cuz we were on a 2 lane road and the car was in his lane...haha

Ive raced and left these cars. 95 eclipse riced, acura integra riced, 90s silverado, 2000+ grand prix. Havent really raced any v8 cars, but my friends integra beat a mustang gt, and stayed with a f250 6.0l with a bully dog system. So idk what I can really beat. Never raced from a dig, but I know it would turn out the same.

Sorry but the Si's out handle the G6's by a large amount. He was just a bad driver.

Update: Raced a 04 mustang GT. Somehow I left him and he could not catch up. I will say hey did manage to gain a little around 80, but when we hit 100, he gave up. Idk about that, my camaro Z28 would absolutely leave my G6, and it was close to stock. Im not saying the G6 is fast, its in the middle somewhere. Im just saying that some cars get WAY to much hype. The mustang is a muscle car and I respect it, but people around here talk so much bs. And its sad when my brothers silverado 4x4 can race them from a roll and they dont gain any distance at all. Not to mention my friends Nissan Titan outran one for about a mile. I will try to get another race up, see if the outcome is the same. I hope it beats me, so he will shut up about his "slipping clutch".

Update: Raced a 04 mustang GT. Somehow I left him and he could not catch up. I will say hey did manage to gain a little around 80, but when we hit 100, he gave up. IMO you are just a better driver than the guy in the Mustang. From a roll the GTs and G6 GTPs are pretty much on an even playing field. Mustang GTs put down close to 230hp at the wheels Where as our G6s are doing 220ish. The GTs weight is a tad less than us by almost 200 pounds (correct me if I'm wrong on that but I'm pretty sure that's right). From a dig it's a whole other story it being FWD vs RWD. The stangs are easier to get faster without the help of power adders.

Ive beat a 99 grand am gt, 01 caviler (easily), 95 mustang v6 (easily) pulled on a grand prix gxp on a red light. and surprisingly i won 0-40km against an srt Challenger. He was about to pass me but missed his second. And I also beat a Volkswagon, I forget the model but it had the 2.0 turbo. I have an 08 v6 sedan

I smoked a 2007 Mustang GT. We were at a red. He pulls up in the left lane and gives me the "wanna race" look. I smiled and hit the traction off button. The light goes green and he tries to take off. I roll on until the tires settle down and then I'm gone. He's way back in the rearview until I hit 65 and let off. He flies past.

At the next red he won't look at me. I think he's in a state of total disbelief that a four door sedan just smoked his big bad V8.

Fool was running 20 inch chrome rims and thinks he's gonna be fast off the line.:rolleyes:

I haven't "raced" anyone in the 6. Played some "cat and mouse" on the highway but that is about it.

No races yet in the G6...

But they will come, I have more than my fair share. The SS is 100+and 4losses.

Raced a firebird today.. If u want to call it that. Got him off the line, guy couldn't drive a stick to save his life it seemed, or speed shifting just want his thing. Had him by two car lengths by time we got to the light (¹/4 mi) and boy was he pissed when I rolled my windows down and his buddy made fun of him for losing to a girl. (but if he knew how to drive he shouldve had me, his v8 to my v6, and weight difference) all well, was fun while it lasted

I drive 2008 pontiac g6 gxp street edition, intake and exhaust.

My girlfriend has a 2011 mustang (v6) and that thing pulls like no other. Put a tune on it and it could easily run 13's

haven't raced anyone yet got stomped by an 07 roush 427r mustang supercharged with 435hp but that was a friend of mine and i knew i was gonna lose. and all the local ricers are scared of me from when i used to beat on them with my buick they're all super slow.

a LOT of wins LOL, G8 GTs, charger RT/s, 04 GTOs, mustang GTs, 2011 V6 mustangs (and damn near beat a PROCHARGED 2011 V6 MUSTANG lol) cobalt SS and only more to come when i put in cams, injectors, underdrive, pistons and rods, intake manifold and port and polish this winter with a good retune that should put my 3.6 at 400hp+

just a transmission tune (all tq management removed) and a GOOD set of tires will shave almost a full second off gxp that is otherwise stock alone, headers alone add 22hp and GTR exhaust, crab intake, 93oct tune and race series MMIs do the trick........... 01 cav (the one that got 14.2 with a stock GXP) got a 13.9 recently with just tune intake and custom exhaust

Chris from WAMS claims to have tuned the 3.6 malibu he had to run a 13.7 with nothing done to it at all but his tune........

you dont have the awesome 3.6 australian motor and 6spd auto tras ;) stock G8 GTs only run about 13.7 in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in 5.3 on a good run........ i was at 5.47 to 60 without even any transmission tuneing and now with no tq manangement am do to 5.1-5.2s to 60mph if u have the 07 or newer 3.5 your more like 8-9sec to 60

True, I only have an 08 3.5, my uncle has his down at the track all the time. His runs 0-60 in 5 flat religiously and is normaly hittin 13.5 in the 1/4... but he also doesn't baby it, he drives it like he stole it when it matters..and his is all stock... But you gotta have a good driver in the seat or nothing else matters.... the car will only go as far as the driver pushes it, any hint of hesitation and specs are down the drain.

But good job beating them..

Sidenote: the g8 gxp is rediculous with its 6.2. Gramps got to use one from the dealership when the vette was in, it made him think twice about buying the vette..

Everytime i stomp the gas in the gxp i always get a 6.0 reading stock. maybe my timing is just bad.

I don't talk to much about my races but the one notable one that comes to mine is the 2011 Mustang. I knew the guy and he just wouldn't take no for an answer. We were on route 30 and instead of honking the horn he would just take off when he thought we were even (that's fair right?) We finally came to a red light so it was fair. Turned off the traction slipped it into manual and held down the gas a little. Smoked him the entire way up to the limiter at 116. He won't talk to me till this day :D

cruising our local strip with my buddy in his tc as wingman cause saturday is cruise/ race night.just raced a eclipse win for me bonnevile gxp ran even with him but ran out of first gear and he pulled me. then counted 8 cops and got the hell out of there.

Crossfire. My and my buddy were on a mile stretch, ran even till about 65, then I just crept ahead of him him and got him in the top end. Finished at about 105, a good 3 cars ahead of him.

now my car runs 13.5s 1/4 miles after getting rid of tq management and getting extreme performance summer tires that actually hook up........then my race engine im building after i broke it should be making about 450hp without forced induction before i drop it in this summer and looking to hopefully get into 11s lol
