I have an '05 G6 GT and just curious what is the real top speed of the G6? Red-line limited or gov-limited? Kinda hard to test it yourself when you live in Metro DC area.

I got it up to 110 (think RPMs were just above 5,000) when some douche bag in a Mercedes was tailgating me until my fiancee yelled at me to cut it out before she'd get killed...good thing because the VA State Police was hiding just a few miles down the road...

I have two different Pontiac G6's. I have a 2005 and it runs right up to 120 with rpms at 3200. and I have a 2008 G6 that stops at 105..

2008 G6 GT. mine governs out at 112, but i have had it up to around 119 once goin down a really steep hill. governer didnt slow it down very much that time lol.

lets here from someone with a tune that had their governor removed lol. since putting on my GTR exhaust i got so much more power and it dont take long to hit the gov. from 80 at all. efore if i was goin 80 and tried to break 105 itd take forever

I haven't passed 140km/h, or around 80mph. No need to - it's a Pontiac after all. It rarely sees much above 65mph on the highway. I rent a Ferrari out of Toronto twice a year, and it makes my G6 GT compare to a 25 year old K car with aired down tires and shot suspension.

Don't forget not to exceed the speed rating of your tires. having a blow out above 100mph is a lose-lose situation, even in a decently planted car such as the G6. Also be sure not to drive on tires greater than ten years old, or the heat can lead to failure where the tread will separate. Not nice.

The night before last I had some nice straight segment that I knew was free of law enforcement for at least a mile ahead and behind. I was annoyed that my '09 GT topped out at 105. My '88 Grand Am SE with the Quad 4 did 113 before the ECU cut the injectors off. Heck, the Jeep Wrangler that got stolen and was replaced by the G6 had the limiter at 92 - though there is no reason to drive faster than 70 or so in a Jeep.

Not that I need to drive faster than 105, but there are times I might want to. Really makes me want a tune now.

I am just praying that after a tune, exhaust, cai, and spark plug upgrade that the thing can hit 140 ;)

07 3.5 liter GT....Yeah its got the most hp and torque than any other year, but limiter is different so the tune would take care of that. Just think it would be cool to know before hand...

In a diff thread people with the 05 GT could hit the limiter at 135, eventually. So even your stock 224 should be able to do it.

Yeah but I heard the limiter in the 07 is way more restrictive...Well when I get my better tires on I will find out, right now I dont think the winter tires can handle that kind of speed. LOL ;D

I have yet to travel above 60 in my G6! I just got it less than a week ago ):
I am excited to take it on the interstate though.
