Really starting to think about getting rid of my G6 if gas prices keep going the way they are here.and getting something smaller like the pursuit ? but we really love are G6.when i filled up with gas today here in london gas was at 96.9 a ltr ouch! it was around $50.00 and that is once a week for me everybody around here says its going to be over a $1.00 a ltr before summer is over

Unfortunately, Pontiac and GM in general are very limited with their "good fuel economy" cars.

The only cars off the top of my head that are anywhere near semi-acceptable (and they are all unacceptable compared to what Toyota offers in terms of gas milage) would be the Pursuit, Vibe, Cavalier, Sunfire, Aveo, Wave, and that's about it.

FOr the benfit of us south of the border types, what are a Pursuit and a Wave?

I live in the US, too, but I know my Pontiac's fairly well.

The Pursuit is the Pontiac equivalent of the Chevy Cobalt, and the Wave is the Pontiac equivalent of the Chevy Aveo. Unfortunately, they are not available as Pontiacs in the USA. Yet...One can only hope.

take a look a GM's Canadian website.

We'll get the Pursuit before long...the SUnfire is getting way outdated and will be killed in the next year or two.

I hate gas prices, but I've learned to accept them. At least the GTP manual should get around 30 highway, which I think is pretty good for a GM v-6 (it helps that its DOHC)

I pay roughly $60 a week for gas.. it's insane.. 240 a month is almost as much as i pay for the car monthly..

In small cars yes. But compare the G6 to the Camry. They go toe to toe in fuel economy from 4 cylinder to the 2 v6's. With the exception of the Malibu, which shares the 3500, I haven't been able to find any v6 powered cars (non hybrid) that get both better city and highway mileage than the g6.

I think the Mazda 6i gets a little bit better economy then the G6, and it's a comperable car. Not sure completely though.

And Hadden, I think the Sunfire was discontinued in 2005 along with the Cavalier, wasn't it?

Nope, still in production as far as I know...it's sad...and pathetic

I don't know about that. The Grand Am's last year is 2005, and it's still on there. Perhaps they haven't taken it off yet?

Possibly. I don't really follow that piece they call a Sunfire...:D Hopefully the replacement will look as good as the Cobalt...I think GM actually did a decent job on the styling.

Ummm, the 3.9 in the GTP is an OHV engine, just like the 3.5 in the GT. Only V6 that GM makes with DOHC are the 2.8 and 3.6 used in the CTS, STS, top of the line Lucerne and Rendezvous.

Supposedly the Sunfire will continue in 2006.

Nope, 6i gets 23/31 with a manual out of a 160hp 4 cylinder, bolt on the auto and it is 23/28. If you compare with the V6 S, the v6 g6 is far ahead in mileage as the best it can do is 20/27.

^The focking Saudi king died yesterday and suddenly the entire world was freaking out over the ensuing unrest in that country. It should fall back soon hopefully.

hey, any MATH MAJORS out there????

am i figuring this right, at 104.9 per liter (or is it litre?)and with 3.785 lt per U.S. Gal and an average exchange rate of $1.20 cad to $1.00 us, does this mean Canadians are paying the equivilent of $4.02 per Gallon for GAS????

am i even close????? gas here TODAY (central Indiana) was $2.42/gal, down about .30 from two weeks ago.

G6Boi

Not a math major but this is how I see it...

The approximate fuel tank capacity of a G6 Sedan is 16 Gallons
Multiply that number by 3.8 (approx.) you than get about 60 Litres
Right now gas in toronto is about $.87 per L multiply that by 60 which equals $52.2 CDN...
You are paying approx $38.72 USD to fill up your tank
With the monetary conversion it equals roughly $45.8 CDN

Conclusion: Canadians are getting screwed

Please correct me if i'm wrong

Yeah, the prices are getting lower, but as long as it's still above $2.00 a gallon I will not be happy.

Gas in Tennessee is ranging from 2.14 per gallon to 2.68 per gallon. I live in a small town which usually has the cheapest gas prices, but not anymore. Nashville's gas prices are about 2.14 per gallon and gas in my town, is of course, 2.68 per gallon. Diesel where I live is still over 3.00 per gallon.

I'm getting 35+ mpg on the highway and 20ish driving HARD in town. Until gas jumps somewhere north of 5 dollars a gallon i can honestly say its not hurting me. :)

Gas is around 2.40 a gallon right now where I am at.

Gas in my small town has gotten down to 2.17 per gallon.

I traveled to Brentwood the past 2 days and got about 34 miles per gallon and their gas prices are 2.34 per gallon  , this is the much richer part of middle Tennessee. It's also about 15 minutes aways from where Nissan is looking to move their corporate headquarters, so you would think they would lower the prices a little, but I have heard that prices on everything started to rise when they heard we may be getting another Nissan plant.
