: Best interior cleaning products?

What's the best stuff for cleaning your dash and door panels? I tried some Formula 2000 stuff in the garage, and because of the rough finish (bumpy finish), it made it look horrible. Any suggestions?

Because of the rough finish, you're really, really, really going to have to work it into the car's dash to get it to look "even".

That's a huge problem with these newer cars. Much more difficult to shine the dash up.

My personal favorite is Armor-All Low Gloss. Looks natural, no reflective shinings.

I heard if you use the products that makes ur interior shrines it even attracts more dust? I have black interior? or it does not matter

I used Meguires Vinyl and Rubber Shine. Wow, it cleaned up the inside real nice. Works great to for under the hood with all the black pieces. Has a tiny cherry smell to it so its fresh not chemical smelling. I think it works better then Armoral.

Armor all is pretty crappy stuff for the dash since it doesn't clean wipe so it just builds up over time.

I like NXT Tech Protectant, works great and it like a gel almost so it covers well. Smells great too.

never use armor all, it contains a "ingredient" that actually attracts dust over time, it looks real nice right away and is easy to apply, especially the wipes for tight spots, but the oil in it will actually accumulate a lot of dust in the long run. i use mothers preserve, it gives a low gloss shine with not bad dust build up and i have had good luck with getting it even

Simoniz in the orange bottle at Walmart for about $2 a bottle, goes on thin so you have to use a generous amount but it leaves a luster without looking greasy. Ive tried that 2000 stuff in the green bottle...CRAP! And I keep a package of genereic armor-all type wipes in my car for quick wipes.

Damp cloth or chamois for normal cleaning. Some window cleaner if there are dirt spots/spills that can't clean up with water. I don't like that armor all and other stuff, too high maintenance for me. Just damp cloth.

I agree with the use of NXT Tech. I've also used Zaino Leather cleaner with great results.

I like to use magic erasers on textured surfaces.

Some half and half shots.

The best thing that we've found to use that has worked awesome on my boyfriend's Silverado SS and his dad's 69' chevelle is Lemon Pledge. Its kind of old school but The chevelle still has the original dash and that's all he's used on it for years

This is what I use:

Glass: Invisable Glass (Walmart)

Interior: Armor All Low Gloss (Walmart)
Note: you dont want to use a high gloss on the dash board cause all it does is reflect off and hit you in the eyes making it harder to see and bothers your eyes

Air Fresh: Calofornia Scents (autozone or lowes)<<---believe it or not

Wash: Rain X Car Wash (Walmart)

Wax: 5 Star Shine (www.5starshine.com)

Hope this helps

Despite what most people say about Armor All, i've always been a fan of their products. They have never done me wrong.

Seems like If I so much as get a drop of any liquid on my seats, it stains horribly. I am seriously regretting getting a tan cloth interior. Right now they look like crap and i've only had the car a few months. What can get these things clean.

I'm looking into some neoprene or leather seat covers, but those are pricey. I'll spend it if they're good quality and not those cheap slip on covers from the Autozone or Shucks.

dont use Armor-ALL! that is the worst low-grade detailing! Meguires is the best for dash, armor-all can crack your dash over time (if you keep using it).

Justin

since ice has come out i have been using it instead of armor all i think its better. we will just have to see what it brings i dont think that it will crack the dash tho

Since that armor-all fiasco was so long ago and Armor-All even shelled out money to those who could prove their dashes were effected... is it really still thought that Armor-All has the same problem? I dunno what to think.

Also, I like a little bit of a shine, I swear using a product and having a little shine really keeps dust off. I use stuff on my dash and it stays dust-free for a long time. Now I"m questioning what to use, too. argh. But I do like the convenience of wipes. It seems that more and more brands have them out now... I guess they work fine in comparison to liquids/lotions/gels? hmm.

Dirt and dust damage dashboards. I have had several cars/trucks in my life and I used "Armorall" or "Sun-of-a-gun". Neither have done any damage to my vehicles. Dust will damage a cars interior worse than anything. Keep your car clean.

Armor-all is greasy stuff.. I dont know how it keeps the dust away from your car... but if it works for you then its good.. i mean whatever floats you boat! :D

I go back over it with a cloth like it says, and then it seems to work well. It's not greasy or anything. It's like Pledge on wood. Pledge helps dust from coming back, but just using a duster wipes it off and doesn't prolong anything...

Yeah, I've definitely been in some clean but greasy cars, though.

50% water mixed with 50% Murphys Oil Soap. I use it on dash, doors, carpeting, and Uphostery.

For cleaning of interior plastic/vinyl surfaces, a simple soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a gentle soap is perfect. ALWAYS remove as much dirt while it is dry (this rule applies to everything). Ever had dirt caked down in the stepguards of a car? You spray your cleaner and the stuff turns to mud and ruins your rag/smears everywhere? Get a little brush or plastic splunger and loosen the dirt and suck it up with the vacuum and save a lot of work/hassle. Same with the carpet.

There are several good UV protectants for sale online, my choice being Detailer's Pride even though the stuff smells like bananas.

For leather you can use a decent cleaner followed with a lotion or warm water with a few drops of Ivory liquid soap added.

Any glass cleaner should be ammonia-free (ESPECIALLY if you have tint...ever saw a car that had retarded looking purple tint? Ammonia helps with that Joker-mobile look).

Try to make sure you don't use any products that are a dimethyl silicone oil (Armor-All). Most vinyl/rubber dressings are a mixture of kerosene/mineral spirits and dimethyl silicone oil. This serves to attack the chemicals that are in rubber and vinyl that were originally designed to help them maintain their flexibility. This is why prolonged use of Armor-All on rubber and vinyl will damage it.

I am one of those people who is constantly cleaning the interior of my car, I cant stand being in a dirty car. I used to use typical household products, until I was informed not to. My boyfriend is the same as me constantly cleaning the interior (and the exterior) but anyways he uses these amazing products. I never thought much of his products until I actually took the time to watch him use them & they are unbelievable. I dont use the exterior cleaners because I simply don't know much about detailing cars, but I do use the interior cleaners. The company is called Adams Polishes -(http://www.adamspolishes.com/) if you have a chance, take a look & order a few of the products. The carpet cleaner is my favorite!

Yeah, they can get kinda pricey but the outcome is worth it. My buddy and his G8 is sponsored by them!

AmandaWI

I agree, when I first looked at some of the prices I thought they were to high. But once I actually saw them used, and the outcome...price was no longer an issue. How did your friend get sponsored by them? What'd (s)he have to do? My boyfriend would probably love to have his G8 become a part of that.

Laugh at me all you want, but I think all air fresheners for cars smell like shit. Why? I don't know. So, I keep a box of fabric softener sheets in the car. :) I stick them under the seats and roll them up to stick in the floor vents so they can't be seen. Smells much nicer. :) Gain is my flavor of choice. :)

When I first read the comment about flavor I couldnt figure out how the sentence fit together. I knew the wording was off. Air fresheners are amazing.

Because of the reflection from the sun off the dash with normal cleaners, does anyone have any recommendations for what to use on the dash to cut down on the reflection bouncing back to the windshield?

Just use some soap and water.Thats what I do, I find most of the wipes that you can buy make the dash feel oily and shiny.

i use this stuff and it works really good

http://www.1z-usa.com/assets/images/Products/Cockpit-Premium-500.jpg

Cockpit Premium
Item Id: 924705

The interior of your car was not meant to glow or look greasy. It should look clean and original as the manufacturer intended. That's exactly what Cockpit Premium does. Contains cleaners and care components that prevent fading and aging over time. Use to treat the dash, gauge cluster, navigation and audio screens, shift knob, arm rests, leatherette (imitation leather) and steering wheel while leaving a no-shine finish. Leaves a light, fresh citrus scent. Water-based formula is free of oils and silicone.

I agree with the Ice interior wipes. They work great on the interior and inside the doors where dust can collect by the door bushings. I recommend them to everyone.
