: The Absorber
GTPGuy82 08-30-2005, 07:51 PM Best $10 I ever spent. I washed my car today and used the Absorber to dry it. Now, having a black car, the last time I washed it I used towels....big mistake. They just moved the water around and left all little flakes and bristles on the car. The Absorber is pretty amazing. It's better than a chamois, sucks the water right up. After a few passes over a section, it's completely dry with no water spots or anything. Just thought I'd give ya a heads up, especially for those with darker cars. I picked mine up at Walmart.

MHadden 08-30-2005, 09:05 PM I bought a chamois 6 years ago whe nI started driving and it has been the best thing I've used...it's starting to fall apart now, but still works. I haven't been able to find one like it, so its good to know someone else tried a substitue and it works.
I bought one about 2 years ago and it disintegrated after 4 washes...left yellow flakes everywhere...
sunrunner_pei 09-01-2005, 05:55 AM I was a loyal chamois user for many years, until I washed my Mom's minivan a couple years ago and dried it with her Absorber. After that I picked one up for myself, and haven't looked back.
Daniel 09-01-2005, 09:59 AM I have tried all kinds must have spent 100 bucks
Micro fiber
chamois
and that water blade
it seems that i cant get any of them to work right, what is the exact name of the one from wall mart? It sounds like it would work for me.
GTPGuy82 09-01-2005, 07:34 PM It's just called "The Absorber". It comes in a cylindrical plastic tube. It should be hanging up where the towels and applicator pads are and stuff.

Robyn P 09-08-2005, 06:56 AM I use the Absorber as well on my black G6. It's great and it comes in different colors.
Daniel 09-08-2005, 09:31 AM Thanks!
rgarofalo 10-08-2005, 10:49 PM the absorber is the best tool for drying after a wash
Githianki 10-09-2005, 09:04 AM Best 10 bucks you will ever spend.
Cycopath 04-04-2006, 08:55 AM i would just be careful, as goes with any drying medium. if you get any dirt particles lodged in teh medium it will scratch your car. this goes for the absorber, towels, microfiber, the water blade, etc. one way to rid the car of most of the water is, take the nozzle of the hose and let a medium stream of water run over the vehicle from top to bottom. this will cause a sheeting action and of the water will run off. then take your towel/absorber and tidy up.
i cheat however and use deionized water that leaves no water spots. i can wash a black car in the sun (i live in vegas btw) and not dry it. still no water spots.
Interfire 04-04-2006, 10:55 AM Also make sure when you dry the car off to blot the towel, not wipe.
AeonPurdue 04-14-2006, 07:50 AM Gotta ask, how does one get ahold of deionized water?
AeonPurdue 04-14-2006, 11:07 AM You guys have sold me. Bought the Absorber today at Advance for a little under 10 bucks. I'll find out if it's worth all the hype!
Subtle_Cynicism 04-14-2006, 12:17 PM It is, trust me. The Absorber dried my black Firebird like nothing I've ever used. Just make sure you squeeze it out when the water starts to not pick up as well.
Other than that, the California Water Blade + Absorber = spot free car.
g6goddess 04-28-2006, 10:31 AM OMG! I bought this yesterday to give her a bath for the first time. (By the way that was only after 200 miles) :) I cant tell you how much I love this thing. I just found the perfect present for every guy i know. Thanks so much!
CACTIDEVIL 04-29-2006, 10:09 PM I bought one on friday. The absorber and the california water blade are my friends. :)
g6goddess 05-01-2006, 06:34 AM Hello pollen friends. You ever get up in the morning and notice that nasty glaze of yellow over your car? I bought this thing called a California Car Duster. Totally takes the pollen and dust off your car. I cant even explain how great this is. I hate washing my car and making it look pretty to find out that its dirty again in the morning. Its a must buy in my book.
sunrunner_pei 05-01-2006, 08:17 AM I have the California Duster too, and I agree, it works well. Just be sure not too apply too mush pressure down on your paint with it. Just like anything you rub against your paint, you could cause scratches/swirls. Just let the fibers dangle down to the surface, barely touching.
Subtle_Cynicism 05-01-2006, 09:24 AM I never lived in a bigger city before, and now, everyday when I go out to my car, I have a fine layer of dust on my car.
That duster is used everyday to make my car shine even more by removing that dust.
It's wonderful.
Johns77 09-24-2006, 07:26 PM OK since drying the car after a wash is my LEAST favorite thing to do Ill be picking up this absober thing on my next Walmart visit!!
Johns77 11-10-2006, 06:29 PM Just used the Absorber for the first time. IT RULES!!!!!!!!! Not only the best drying tool i've ever used but probably the best car wash accessory ive ever seen!! This thing drank every drop of water from every part of my car in about 4 min flat and left not one single spot on it. GET ONE!!!
coupe 11-13-2006, 07:24 AM one way to rid the car of most of the water is, take the nozzle of the hose and let a medium stream of water run over the vehicle from top to bottom. this will cause a sheeting action and of the water will run off. then take your towel/absorber and tidy up.
This truly is the best and most effective way to dry a car.
I own 5 absorbers, 2 got demoted to tire, rim and engine bay drying.
Just want to add my two cents...
The Absorber IS the best.
I bought mine about 15 years ago, (mine has a picture of a dork with short shorts washing a 1980 Dodge , lol...its real old) and have used it probably a thousand times...its still works great like day one...It doesnt matter if it gets dry or remains wet...It never gets mildew or moldy...easy to keep clean...just wring it out and thats it....Buy one.
w3ap0n-x 08-03-2009, 11:20 PM I have one of these laying around I got as a gift. I need to do the CD test with it and see just how much money in detailing The Absorbers have made me.
lcplmouw 08-09-2009, 11:02 AM the absorber is the best just washed my car today and its awesome. actually absorbs the water (hence the name) it doesn't just move the water around.
CalsGTP 08-13-2009, 09:54 PM Got my Absorber yesterday and washed my car today, AWESOME ++++.
