You dont have to replace the radio to integrate your MP3 player. Peripheral makes a factory radio adaptor that lets you use any MP3 player with a headphone output and they also make one specifically for an iPod that shows the info on the radio display. My G6 has a Monsoon with no AUX input either, and I ordered the parts to use my iPod direct, it's all plug and play, no special wiring at all. Another thing I have to pick up when I get back from my business trip.

The only thing your G6 radio has to have on in is an XM or BAND button, and every G6 radio has a BAND button...... I will let you know how it goes by the weekend, I am going to pick up the part on Thursday or Friday. The one made specifically for the iPod lets you use your radios track up / down and FF / REW and one of the buttons functions as the MENU.

So Hollywood how does it connect into the stereo. If it's fm transmitter I'm not into it.

No FM transmitter, I hate those too. This is direct input and it gives you a secondary aux input as well. I'll keep you posted when I install it this weekend....

The thing that Hollywood is talking about is a unit that either connects in between the factory harness to the radio. It is a vehicle specific unit that when you hit the Band button or XM in newer vehicles, it dedicates a station to your iPod. You can either have it as an iPod or 3.5mm Jack (headphone), or both. It's a vehicle specific so you unplug your factory harness then this unit plugs into the factory female connector on the radio, then the factory male vehicle side harness plugs into the female from the Peripheral unit.

These can kind of be weird because sometimes there are dipswitches on them that need to be programmed but essentially it's an easy install besides the fact that half the car needs to come apart in order to take the radio out.

So you hit the Band button, and you every time you hit it you get the choice of iPod, Auxiliary 1, and Auxiliary 2. iPod is where you control the unit through the factory seek and what not, which I hate. Then there is Aux 1, where you can control it through the iPod and it still charge, or Aux 2, where you use the 3.5mm cord supplied and you can control a Droid phone MP3 Player etc through the headphone jack. If you are getting this installed and not doing it yourself, tell the installer to run both of those cords. It is nice to have both. But that should be it.

On a side note, they also make another one that works the same way and is cheaper, but isn't as channel dedicated. It used FM stations but it is hardwired in using a 40Gm10 and 40GM20 antenna adapter, power, and acc. Where as the one aforementioned is a direct plug-in.

Cost I'd say $179 Installed for the one Hollywood is talking about and $139 for the other one. Both made by iSimple which is branched from Peripheral Electronics.

Clearly those are their price, but visit a local retailer like Best Buy. It's cheaper.
