I get perfect reception on fm radio stations but some days the am stations always sound like so much static. i think the antenea is in the rear window and i have a 20% tint on my back windows. could the tint be interfering with the antenea

Metal tint does interfere but your antenna is on the outside so that shouldnt make a difference. I get horrible AM reception as well compared to my two other stock radios (ford). I think these radios are not very good.
How in the world could you upgrade that roof antenna??

AM/FM antenna is in the rear glass. The antenna(s) on roof are for OnStar and XM

Yes, the AM reception is horrible compared to vehicles with an exterior antenna.

When I got my G6, the AM was decent, but not great. However, the last couple months, it has been terrible!! Even the strongest signal in SE Michigan is no longer picked up well.
Anyone know things to check? Where is the plug in to the window "antanae", maybe I knocked it in the trunk one day?
Is there any aftermarket stuff to make a stock radio get better reception?
FM is pretty much fine.
Thanks for your help.
