Just did my first oil change at 1,800 miles and it may be my last.

I just fought with the freaking thing for 3 hours and I finally won! I actually bent one of those strap wrenches to the point it will never be used again and it still didn't come off. :mad:

At first glance I thought the filter would be really easy to get to a nice a breeze to change. Wrong! It's tilted so that when you unscrew it the oil runs right down your hand, arm, and up your shirt sleeve. :frown:

Really....I looked under the car it looks like it would be the simplest thing to change. You gotta move out of the way man!

Changing the oil is a piece of cake on the G6!!! If the filter is really on there, try a pipe wrench. As for the oil running down your arm, your have to loosen the filter, let the oil run down into the pan, then take the filter off while pouring it out in one swift movement. Total time it takes me to change my oil, 15 minutes, which includes stopping in the middle for a beer.

Oh, and I have to ask why you're changing the oil so soon?

I changed it early even though I'm sure the engines are broken in at the factory. I still had a nasty break-in smell while climbing hills for almost 700 miles, so I thought I would dump it and put some fresh in just to be anal about it. :)

That "break-in smell" is the belt, when you put a new belt on it usualy takes a wile to break itself in.

I changed my oil yesterday and thought the same thing "oh wow this is going to be easy" holy shit I swear the hulk put my damn oil filter on. Finally I just had to go get my gloves and be pissed at it

I get cards in the mail all the time from the dealer telling me it's time for my free oil change. And another one for filling out a survey, ect. But when your dealer is 80+ miles one way it's just not worth it.

Same thing happened when my brother didn't put a bit of oil around the oil filter gasket before tightening it. Ended up impaling it with a screwdriver and getting it off that way.

you can take it to a local dealership, not the one you bought it from...
