Has anyone found replacement wiper refills at any of the auto parts stores, or are they only avaliable from pontiac? I'd better get a spare set before the snow and ice settle in this winter.

Thanks, Paul

You should be able to find wiper blades for $10 for PREMIUM blades.

Anyone that would pay $39 for blades are in trouble.

Kindof on the same topic... does anyone else think the wiper speed switch is backwards of what it should be? It's backwards from my Grand Am, I just found out this morning that turning it closer to me will make them go slower. I was wondering why the "slow" speed was so freakin fast. ;)

the bottom most is stop.. then the next to the bottom is speed sensitive.. so if you are going 60 its going to be fast.. going 20.. its going to be slow.. atleast thats what i have noticed

wipers are under warranty for the first 12,000 miles, just go to the dealer and get them replaced if you have less miles than that.

Ok everyone, heres the deal. I work at a quick lube and we sell wiper blades there. So to make a long story short.....

There are no replacment blades out there yet.... but there will be.... I talked with the rain-x blades rep. and she said that all the aftermarket companies don't have replacment for the brackets. (traditionally you have a j hook on the arm and thats what they are working on right now but it should be out by the end of summer or fall.) the only place to get them is at dealer only. sorry!! :( so yes we have to pay the altra high price for now!!!

I've been looking too. The dealer here wants $21 each. Found Advanced Auto Parts had 2 versions from the same brand. One $10, other $17. The $10 one said OEM towards the bottom, brand name started with a T. HTH.

I failed to locate any replacement blades at the stores I checked in town. I wanted to buy Bosch blades but those fools don't sell online and nobody in town carried Bosch or anything else that would fit the G6. It's a shame, I really like the design of the G6 blades, they are a piece of cake to replace, but no one seems to carry them. I think the new Malibu uses the same design so hopefully GM will spread the design across their other cars so that in time the blades will be very common.

I finally got the blades replaced when I took my car in for service at Firestone and they just happened to have something that would work. They wanted $80 for them and I just laughed. I managed to talk them into giving me the blades free since I had a lot of maintenance work done.

I just replaced one of my wipers yesterday... I found that the Bosch Evolutions work. I had the guy at O'Reilys grab one from the back and told him that it needed to have the clips on the sides of the attachment piece and he brought me that one. It is not EXACT but it clips on nicely and does a very good job. Price was about $17.

I said the same thing, found someone on e-bay that had brand new ones from his G6 that he never used. I swapped them out, but kept the old ones just in case. My car was in the shop for one of the many coolant leaks, and they gave me a brand new G6 for a rental. I swapped out the new wipers from the rental and put my old ones on it! So I now have another new set, once these go :)

Advanced Auto Parts has many to choose from.

Just got a pair for my 08 G6 Trico Neoform for $19.95 each. 24" (driver's side) 21" (passenger side). They were $19.95 each and on sale for $5.00 off each side. There for I paid $29.90 for the pair and they installed them FREE!

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I'd start in this thread since it was already stickied. I purchased a set of Bosch Icon blades (#441) from Amazon after consulting the Bosch fitment chart and reading reviews of G6 owners who had used them. However, I simply cannot figure out how to get them on a 2008 G6. Taking the OEM wipers off was a breeze, and the Icons go on about 3/4 of the way with no problem...but then get stuck due to contact between the 441 plastic and the metal 'ear' along the bottom of the G6's wiper arm slot.

Has anyone else had success with these wipers and might be able to clue me in as to what I'm doing wrong? Is there some sort of adapter I need to get?

Thanks in advance!

Dunno if someone mentioned this but - If you can't find blades at an auto parts store, GMPartsDirect has them for 15.77 each plus S&H - comes out to about 40 bucks total with shipping but hey it's better than over 30 each!

I took my G6 in for service to Allen Samuels Chev here in Houston. While there I had them order a set of blades for me since I couldn't find them anywhere. The said sure, ordered them, took $32 for the pair and said they would call me in 3 days to pick them up.

4 weeks later they said they were still waiting and that it was possible that Pontiac was not making any new ones, ever. I asked to talk to the Parts Manager and told him about the poor customer service his guy was displaying. I was forceful but adamant that I needed wipers to survive. He went the extra mile and discovered the reason the part had never came in. GM had changed the part number for both blades and the system was waiting to fulfill an order on a part that no longer existed.

So beware when told the blades are not available. The part number may be wrong.

The correct numbers are 2594-5093 Driver side and 2594-5094 passanger side.

I got mine from a NAPA Store they ordered them in for me and they were like $20 a piece. I stopped at Auto Zone, Advance, and NAPA; no one stocked them at the time, and NAPA was the only one who said they would order them in for me, I'm sure the other two could have, but the sales people were probably to lazy to say anything and have to go through the process of ordering them.

I had a REALLY hard time getting wipers for my 08 G6 too. Sucks when your wiper is halfway split and you're running around town trying to find new ones, haha.

NAPA by me had them in stock. The brand is clear plus. Part number for the passenger side is 1621 1315. They did have the drivers side one in stock which I am going to pick up in a few days.

Good luck finding blades! The Bosch ones didn't fit my car, the connector was just too big.

I had to replace the wiper blades on my '09 G6 and the only ones that I could find that weren't at the dealership were the Anco Contours. They are absolutely horrible. When dry, they work great without squeaking, but when it's wet, they squeak like mad. I've tried cleaning them to no avail. I think I might order some of the OE blades.

We have lots of Pontiac G6 wiper blade customers. You should be able to find them online too. Three choices from Trico exist: NeoForm Beam Blade (Maximum Performance), Tech Beam Blade (Mid-Grade Beam) and Trico Winter Blades. Prices range from $10.88-$15.88. So, they are readily available at a reasonable price online and offline...

Hope this helps,

I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 V6. I went with the Rain-X Latitude models and I seriously have been spending the past hour trying to figure out how to get these on my car. The original has a push button attachment that fits into the metal receptor arm for that push button. When i remove the blade using the push button, i am still stuck with the metal arm that has the hole for the push button. I cant figure out if i need to yank off that metal arm attachment too or if i can get any of the included attachments to work with it. I am seriously lost and getting frustrated on how to put these new full blade assemblies on. I have never had so much trouble. I would like step by step instructions by someone who has replaced the OE blade assemblies with the Rain-X Latitudes.

Thanks in advance for saving the rest of my hair!!

The factory blades had two wings on the bottom, if yours have a single button on the top with a "box" that slides off the metal arm before the arm pops off, they are the Rain-x replacements. Your new rain-x blades should have came with an adapter to make them fit the arms. if they did not come with two or three adapters, take them back and get the newer style package, it will have the appropriate adapter. If you buy the blades at Auto-Zone, and sometimes if you don't they will help you out if they are not busy, ask nicely, and tell them that you have the newer style of GM blades and can't figure it out. They should help you out.

doddsjr653

The Rain-X blades were my first attempt at replacements, there was an adapter that was close to fitting, but it clearly wasn't designed with my wiper arm in mind. I'm still using the OE blades that were put on in the factory, and it's getting ugly. I suppose i should just call the dealer and get confirmation on the part number so I can order replacements from gmpartsdirect. $13/ea is better than what the Rain-X blades cost.

OK, I called and got the details. MY2008 did have two different wiper arms. Initial production models use P/N 20763143 for drivers side and 20763144 for passenger side. The split occurred at the VIN ending in 84188352.

Kniggit
12-08-2009, 03:44 PM
i will agree that the rain-x adapter is diffrent, it does fit. I needed a blade for the drivers side, and it did the job. There are two styles of package/blade for the rain-x latitude. The older one is about 3/4 of an inch tick package, and comes with one spare adapter that does not fit, however the newer style package is about 1 1/4 thick and contains about 3 adapters depending on the blade length and will work. The adapter for the style we take is a little funky and tricky to put on, but it does fit, and it also has to be opened to fit the arm, otherwise it will not fit, as it hooks near the base then clips onto the end of the arm, which is the reverse of the factory blade on mine, which hooked the tab on the end and then clipped on towards the base of the arm with the two wings. A picture would be worth a thousand words here, but if the factory blades are available for roughly the same price they are probably at least as good or better product, and are easier to install to boot, not going to tell you they suck, but in a pinch if you can get the Latitudes that say "easy to install" in a red background at the top of the pkg, they will fit.

Yes, when looking up part numbers in the application books or online, you'll see an "early" and "late" designation. The VIN# above must be the exact split between the two for 08. If you look at your VIN# and determine which you have, the application guides will have the early/late designation. Then, you're good to go!!

I have the early 08 G6 V6 (according to that VIN posted). Anyone have experience with the Valeo TLP-21 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B002N4MBKI/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance) and TLP-24 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B002N4GGQS/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance) Gen2 Wipers? I guess they are a new type and Amazon has $17.16 off promo a set of two so they are only $20 for both. Amazon says they are compatible and so does Valeo. I guess the Valeo 900-21-10B and 900-24-9B also fit but they are $30.81 total. Not sure which are better. Anyone have experience with these wipers on the G6?

Wipers123

$17.16 off promo a set of two so they are only $20 for both.

I am not familar with those blades but you'll see that the industry is creating the "$10-$14 price point" for beam blades so there's many options at that price point now, give or take a few bucks. Entry-level beams will cost this much and the super-premiums (with bells and whistles - silicone, teflon, etc.) have come down to the $15-$22 price point.

I looked into this particular vehicle (08 Pontiac G6) and the mid-year production change was the wiper arm: The early models have a "push button" attachment and the late models have a "pinch tab" attachment. This is what you have to watch for in addition to lengths.

If you like Trico and you like this lower price point but you don't want to worry about the attachment, take a look at "Trico Tech Beam Blade". They're running about $12 each but they come with the adapters for both arms - push button and pinch tab - so you don't have to stress about it - you're covered. I have to say these are some of the "beefiest" blades I've seen - really nice (no teflon like the NeoForms though).

Being that you have an 08 yours is a late model. Mines an 07 and I have the pinch clips. The best way to see what wipers your car has is go to an auto store and look at the book they have by the wipers to tell you what size and type of wipers you need.

I can certainly help you if you want, but take note - its so easy you'll chuckle afterwards. The replacements come with full removal and replacement instructions. I'm guessing it will take a novice 5 minutes. It takes me about 1-2 minutes.

Last fall I upgraded my wipers on my 2005 G6 to Trico NeoForm Beam Blades that have a teflon coating. I wanted to report that they work very well. They wipe clean and are very quiet (probably because of the teflon). Performed well in fall and winter (in wisconsin) and so far so good in spring. They came with step-by-step removal and replacement instructions and were an easy installation. I just received an email from wipers123 where I purchased mine, and there's currently a $15 rebate through 5/15/10 and an additional $5 coupon "springreturningcustomer". I'm not ready to replace mine yet, so take it if you want it... I thought I'd pass this along!

I was told that on the NeoForm line in particular, Trico avoided having multiple adapters packaged in because many customers do not like changing adapters. So each mount is designed for a family of wiper arms. Thats why they have up to 4 different part numbers for each length and each part number snaps right onto the arms easily.

You are right - when the wiper company puts in the time engineering, its makes install much easier. It literally takes 2-3 minutes to swap them out.

Keep us posted on the Valeos as they are used and get older!!

I just bought my car last week and realized that the wipers were bad yesterday since we hadn't had any snow. I went out and bought some from Walmart called Bosch and found out that they don't work on my 2010 G6. I ended up going to the dealer and buying some for $33.00 which I thought I should get for free since I did pay $15,500 Cash for the car, but anyways I'm wondering if anyone else has found any replacements at any auto parts store that will work. I don't really want to keep paying $33 for them. I did make them put them on for me though.

I stole the idea from lampoon but I got some of the Trico Neoform blades - so far they seem to be working perfect.

$33 for FULL wiper blades is not too bad. $33 for the rubber refill inserts is steep. So you either got a great deal at the dealer (usually much more for a set of full wiper blades) or you got gouged for inserts.

Like Dave and Lampoon above, I also use the trico neoform (https://www.wipers123.com/NeoForm.php) beam blades. They are direct-connect to G6 wiper arms whereas many other aftermarket blades require cheesy, plastic adapters.

I'm pretty sure it was the full wiper blades. I also had to call about a wheel because I bent mine and they said it would be $115 so I guess their actually giving me decent prices.

Can you get the stock wipers online? If so can someone give me the part numbers for them for an '06.

I don't know about the GM OE part numbers, but here's the aftermarket info on the 2006 Pontiac G6: https://www.wipers123.com/product_display.php?make=Pontiac&osCsid=599cd9d61ea25c55056400c0b2eb3ffa&makehid=Pontiac&year=2006&yearhid=2006&model=G6&modelhid=G6

I installed the Michelin brand wipers from Walmart and they work fine. It's a little tricky to put on the first time. They were $12.50 each.

Just think.. If you have an FJ Cruiser like the GF you'd be buying two sets of wiper blades.. So you can use 3 of them on the windshield. Yes 3

Has anyone found replacement wiper refills at any of the auto parts stores, or are they only avaliable from pontiac? I'd better get a spare set before the snow and ice settle in this winter.

Thanks, Paul

Rain-x Latitude, comes with adapters for the various arms I&L, PTB, small J, Lrg J, Pin Arm, Bayonet and P&H arms. Easy to install and work great. SteelWing

I love the Rain-X wipers! Along with Rain-X wiper fluid. Along with Rain-X itself. Anything that makes you want to drive a 100 miles an hour in the rain cause you think you can see better, thus feeling safer, is alright with me
