: Nokya bulbs
Explr1 10-15-2005, 06:58 PM No one has posted night pics with after market bulbs yet, so I thought I would start. The headlights are Nokya artric white and the foglight bulbs are Nokya hyper yellow's.

I bought them from www.automotivelightingusa.com You can also find them on eBay. When you adjust the foglights up more they really put out a good amount of light.
sleepless 10-16-2005, 10:50 AM I looked at www.automotivelightingusa.com and they dont even have anything for pontiac (make or model).

Just click on halogen bulbs on the upper left side of their page, then click on H11 or H9 and pick which brand/color you want. Or click from the choices below.

Fogs are the same as the low beams, H11, in theory you could have yellow low beams also. :D

Yes, there H11's. I would love to run the yellow bulbs for low beams in the winter, but the PD around here wouldn't like that too much.
GTPGuy82 10-17-2005, 11:49 PM Those yellow fogs are nice. I tried to take pics of my PIAAs at night a couple times and I had no luck. They looked like regular stock bulbs in the pictures. However, I have these JDM 'xenon cosmos blue' bulbs on order, so hopefully I'll be able to take pics of them. If they look good I'll leave them in the headlamps and move the PIAAs to the fogs.

asianman35 10-18-2005, 12:03 AM Im guessing theres no problem with wattage, these are 80w (off someones ebay auction) and the stock are 55w i think?

There all really only 55 watts for the H11's and 65 for the H9's. The higher wattage stamped on the boxes/bulbs are nothing more than a marketing ploy. They stick a tad bit of xenon gas in the bulbs, and say the output is an amazing 80 or 100 watts. The biggest company who does this is PIAA with their Xtra vision crap. DOT has banned all importation and sales of true high wattage bulbs. You can't buy them anymore. I stocked up on true high wattage Hella 9005 (100) and 9006 (80) bulbs before the ban when I had my Bonne. I'm considering rewiring the G6 for these.
GTPGuy82 11-10-2005, 04:39 PM Hey I just got a set of the Arctic Whites for my foglamps, and I was just wondering if yours said "Nokya Wiring Harness Recommended" on the side of the case?
Mike
Explr1 11-10-2005, 05:43 PM Hey I just got a set of the Arctic Whites for my foglamps, and I was just wondering if yours said "Nokya Wiring Harness Recommended" on the side of the case?
Mike
Yes, they did, however they don't make them for H11 or H9 bulbs, go figure. It's really on there so Nokya isn't liable if the wiring harness melts and your car catches fire. The headlight housing is large enough so heat isn't an issue, and the foglights are die cast metal/glass with a heat vent so your good there as well. By the way, why didn't you go with yellow in the foglights? The artic whites are nice and bright on dry and snow covered roads, but on wet roads, they give off a lot of glare. Having the yellow bulbs in the foglights help greatly on wet roads.
Bob G 11-11-2005, 06:13 AM Explr1, would it be possible sometime that you could take and post pics of the roadway in front of your car (could be in a dark parking lot or whatever)while standing beside the drivers door, of the light pattern produced by your headlights with the yellow fogs on, on a dry and a wet road? I am curious about how they look compared to the pattern produced by my stock white fogs.
Explr1 11-11-2005, 07:05 AM Sure, no problem.
GTPGuy82 11-11-2005, 04:25 PM I wanted to be different :)

GTPGuy82 11-11-2005, 06:42 PM whoa you could drive around with just your fogs on they're so bright!
Mike
Explr1 11-11-2005, 07:45 PM Yup, I sure can. When I first got the car, the fogs were aimed straight down and didn't provided that much light at all. I thought they were just for appearance purposes. Then I raised them up to just below the low beams and found that they really put out a lot of light, especially on the side of the road where deer like to jump out from. There awesome on wet roads now that I have the yellow bulbs in them!!! The only thing that I don't like about my lights are the high beams. The high beam reflector doesn't have the metal glare shield like the low beams do and the bulbs look a little to blue for my taste.
ragingfish 11-11-2005, 07:47 PM Yup, I sure can. When I first got the car, the fogs were aimed straight down from the factory and provided no real light at all. I thought they were just for appearance purposes. Then I raised them up to just below the low beams and found that they really put out a lot of light, especially on the side of the road where deer like to jump out from. There awesome on wet roads now that I have the yellow bulbs!!!
How hard is it to adjust the aim on the fogs? How do you get to the adjustment screws?
Explr1 11-11-2005, 07:57 PM Theres an adjustment screw above the foglights, you need an allen key, I'll check the size tomorrow morning, it's in the car right now. It's a little hard to get to, you have to sit on the ground to see it.
GTPGuy82 11-12-2005, 02:31 AM Yea I was wondering the same thing. When I was changing the bulbs I remember you saying you aimed them higher, but I was trying to figure out how you did them. At first I thought you moved the whole assembly up or something because I couldn't see an adjuster anywhere.
mike
Bob G 11-12-2005, 09:04 AM Thanks Explr1 for the posting of the pics, made my mind up for whenever I take the time to upgrade--I want the yellow.
Explr1 11-12-2005, 10:30 AM The adjustment screw is through the tiny hole above the foglight. I took the pic with my new black V3 so the quality is poor.
GTPGuy82 11-12-2005, 04:37 PM ahh alright I found it. thank you.
Mike
Bob G 11-12-2005, 07:15 PM I'm willing to bet that it takes something other than a phillips screwdriver... torx head correct? or allen (hex) head?
has anyone posted instructions on getting to the bulb to change it?
Explr1 11-12-2005, 08:27 PM It's just an allen key to adjust them. To change the bulbs, you have to take out the headlamps and there right there on the bottom of the fender well., very easy with lots of room.
Bob G 11-13-2005, 06:55 AM Cool, I had looked at the "headlamp replacement" section of the owners manual but it neglected to say anything about fog lights. Therefore without taking the headlamps out to look, I didn't know if it was accessable there or you had to crawl under the car and pop the fenderwell covers.
Explr1 11-14-2005, 10:42 AM Heres a pic of the passenger side foglight assembly with the headlight out. You can see the adjustment screw that is accessable through the hole from the front of the bumper. To adjust it all you need is a 4mm allen key.

Bob G 11-19-2005, 03:59 PM My yellow fogs arrived and before I go to install them, I was wondering one more thing Explr1, about how many turns of the allen wrench did you have to make to get them where you left them? Just was looking for a ballpark on that as I didn't want to make too many trips to the ground since cold weather set in.
