: Born2Ski's 06 GT
BORN2SKI 06-28-2010, 10:10 PM Just got my first car, 2006 G6 GT, and figured now would be a better time than ever to enter into the online community with other car fans. She's fully loaded; panoramic roof, leather, Monsoon radio, no chromes tho :(.
The to-do list:
1. PXAMG-GM3 iPod adapter (already ordered) ...cant wait, CD's and crappy FM reception, and commercials are soo annoying.
2. Tint windows/tails/paint some trim. Thinking of painting all of the silver trim, and air vent surrounds gun-metal grey or similar, classy and will go very well with the rest of the car.
3. HID's
4. Air intake
5. GT-R exhaust
6. Recessed grilles
Here she is:

filian 11-10-2010, 05:19 AM Looking good. Love the sealth black look. I think the chrome accents should stay just so it doesnt get too dull all blacked out. Thats just me though
SimplyMe 11-10-2010, 08:17 AM I don't normally like the all black look....but the chrome and red really make it stand out....NICE
BORN2SKI 11-16-2010, 08:13 AM Had an extra strip of LED's lying around...here is result

datacat 12-31-2010, 04:22 PM Dude, how'd you manage that? :)
waterfowler76 01-02-2011, 10:59 PM NICE!!! how do you like that bad boy?
BORN2SKI 01-02-2011, 11:03 PM Thanks!!!
Love it so far!
There is a tunnel on my way to work, and funny thing...every time I go through it, the window opens, and the accelerator seems to magically go all the way down. I think there is something wrong with my car
datacat 01-02-2011, 11:24 PM Yeah and for some reason the car shows "low fuel" more often ;)
NT1078 01-20-2011, 12:42 PM Really like the way you did you head lights. Does it sacrifice any of the light output painting them like that?
Adam
BORN2SKI 01-20-2011, 01:14 PM Thanks Adam!!!
There is no effect on the light output as only the inside is painted...before/after...

Tupperware SC2 01-21-2011, 06:49 AM This is a super comon modification but I think it makes the car have a more agressive look. You have done a great job with the lights.
Have you had any issues with leaking?
BORN2SKI 01-21-2011, 10:54 AM Thanks!
It was initially letting moisture in causing condensation, but I re-opened one of them and re-sealed it. It seems to have gone away, but we will see once spring comes.
NT1078 01-22-2011, 08:24 AM I've been combing the forum looking for a step by step on how this is done. I understand it has something to do with putting the lights in the oven or something?
Could anyone share a link that shows how this is done, or give me quick notes on how to do it? Might be a fun mod to do in the spring, as long as there are no adverse effects.
Thanks!
Adam

Basically, you heat up the black sealant until you are able to pry the lens apart. It is only doable on the 05-06 (and some of the earlier 07's) because GM switched the sealant to one that cannot easily be opened and re-sealed.
Once you are done, reverse the steps. I put in some extra silicone for good measure, but still ended up with some condensation so I opened one again, and re-sealed it. The condensation seemed to go away, but we will see when spring comes.
If you are looking for something with no possible adverse effects, this is not the mod for you. Chances are that you will get some form of condensation after doing this, but the end result is worth it IMO.

Thanks man!
In the front I have two sets for eash side, one under the dash, and one under the front of the seat. In the back there is only one set for each side, under the back of the front seats.
They are hooked up to the BCM so they turn on when the doors are open, then dim off when the doors are closed. Basically the same as the dome light without being able to turn them manually.
Wojcik 01-23-2011, 10:17 PM That is a sick looking ride man, I was actually thinking of doing the black on black with all the chrome accents left alone, and I just put in the red led's in the front compartment, the back seat is for next time, but like I said man good job on it, it looks sweet as hell.
NT1078 01-24-2011, 12:23 PM Hmm,
I'm not sure if I want to take the chance and end up with my headlights fogging up. I'm sure if I re-seal it'll be find, but I'm not much of a gambler.
BTW, I'm a little late: Congrats on the car of the quarter win! Well deserved.

Honestly is isnt really a big issue...after 10-15 minutes is always seems to clear up from the heat of the bulbs.
