Gooday All,

Just a general question which no one has seemed to raise yet in this forum. While the base V6 sedan gets 22/32 MPG, I've noticed that the GT models are slightly lower, at 21/29. This seems hard to explain, since both models are the same weight, same engine, etc. Could the manual shift mode on the GT models be causing this? I suppose if you shift through the gears manually you might burn more gas, and its possible that whoever determines these figures is accounting for that. Any experts out there with a professional opinion?? thanks.

The difference is due to the axle ratio.

The GT has a higher ratio, causing the engine to spin at a slightly higher RPM at any given speed.

Their 29mpg highway is way off for the GT. At 75mph, I get a consistent 32mpg.

I agree! I hit 32.4mpg on average from Jersey to Boston coasting at a pleasant 70mph the whole way!

Talk about stellar mileage!

My 1.8L I4 Vibe only got 29 at it's best!

I got between 32 and 33mpg traveling about 55 miles one way, twice per day last week. Average speed was between 55 and 65.

Same here. The woman gets over 30MPG commuting to and fro work.
