I think I experienced something today-got a gtp with hydralic -i took a turn fast and I could swear the steering stopped working-or at least the power steering--is this waht you guys are talking about?--never had that on my g6 gt

well, if it WAS the same thing, i would be very surprised. like you said, the GTP has Hydraulic Steering and the GT has the EPS. maybe we have a 'new' problem to be concerned with?????

Question, didn't you say they replaced the column to repair the steering lock problem? If that is the case, I don't think it would matter which type steering. The column is probably close to the same....

^ The motor is part of the column in the non-GTP cars. Two different parts.

Belt Slippage may have been the culprit in your case... If you felt the lock up we are speaking of you never would have made your turn. :(
