I've had mine for right at three months.

Twice I had the starter issue that some have spoke of. Since I changed my starting sequence - now turn the key to accy, wait a few seconds before starting - it hasn't occurred. About a month ago the driver side door started clicking when opening and shutting. The problem (I found it myself) was the little cam connector link (black plastic piece) was loose where it mounts to the door. Then I checked the other three doors and they were a tad loose too.

Another than those two problems I am very pleased. Gas mileage is great, good performance for what I want/need, and stylish as well. After the last GM experience I had (an Olds Cutlass that was posessed by demons, and horrible customer service to boot) I swore I'd never buy another. I may still wish I had stuck to that at some point, but for now I am very satisfied.

Trick question!

I took delivery on October 28th...but then on the 29th a deer hit it...and November 8th it went into the shop...haven't seen it since...so "technically" I've owned it for just about a month...but I've only been able to enjoy it for about 2 weeks. :(

had my G6 for 3 months roughly 4700 miles, only problems I've had is the CD player was changed and the overstarting. Have they come up with a solution for that? :p

A month on Friday and I have over 4k on her. I have been getting 38- 40.5 MPG on the highway. Seriously this car surpassed my expectations on gas. Now I just need more power out of the 3.5.

40 MPG on the 3.5?

How do you manage that??? I was shocked when I hit 34 on my way to Boston, but tried and tried as I could, I NEVER could bring it up to 35...:(

How the Hell did you manage that? Driving downhill with the wind at your back in neutral after just resetting the computer? I've seen 36 MPG on an all highway trip over 200 miles at 70 MPH after resetting the computer once I got on the highway, but never higher than that.

Could the differrence be that the 40MPG G6 is not the GT model?

bigbengt67
11-28-2005, 07:03 PM
^ Ahhh, didn't even notice that. Different final drive ratio would certainly do it. 40 MPG is still pretty impressive.

A little over 2 months and 2,100 miles.

Meh. It has issues aplenty. It's going in next week. If they're all solved, then maybe I'll start liking this car.

Somethings, however, can't be fixed. Like the torque steer.

I have owned my G6 for 1 year with 12,400 miles. Not the worst automotive experience of my life but not the pinnacle either. Had various warranty issues resolved by GM and others are just flat ignored. Recently had Driver's door water intrusion recall addressed and had a new battery installed when mine failed to start the car. GM Roadside assistance sent a Tow truck to jump start the car (luckly it was in my garage at home) and I drove it to the closest Pontiac dealship where the battery was diagnosed with a bad cell and replaced at no charge.

Is there anyone that has had NO problems. I'm getting the impression that most everyone has had to take the car into the dealer for some reason or another. Not helping my purchase decision...

The issues I mentioned having with mine, I fixed one and the other took care of itself. 6100 miles and it hasn't seen the dealership one time.

Sorry, I take that back. I had to go back the day after I got it to get the CD that I left in the player of my old vehicle.

I'm happy with the G.

Here is my best captured mileage... I have had 38.x on a trip to macomb but It was only on the DIC for a short amount of time and I was going to fast to take a pic. 40 could happen I think.

I've had my G6 for about 14 months this week, with at least 8,900 miles... The only problems I've had are the occasional overstarting and the 4-panel sunroof. Every once in a while, I'd turn the knob/dial to 0 to close it and it would close two panels, then open back up. Since it's basically winter in Chicago right now, it really won't be open at all for some time. But I will be taking it in for service before the midwest thaw (April).

No problems here, at all. I don't even have rattles. Guess getting the car on the showroom floor wasnt bad at all :)

With the car itself?

I haven't had anything wrong with the CAR that's caused me to visit the dealer for repair. Only real problem I've had is the TIRES, but I don't blame GM for those - I blame Continental.

Had it since June of 05. Actually it is my wife's car, a daily driver. Little over 14,000 miles on it. Only problem so far was the radio was very crappy. Dealer installed a new "loop" and for the most part fixed it. The AM reception is not that great (live in rural area) but think that is typical of antennas in the windshield/back glass. One other minor detail, the "Pontiac" name on trunk is coming off, just like one of the other poster's problem. My wife loves the car, drives 70 miles daily round trip to work, averaging a little over 28 mpg. That is a combo of rural/freeway/city driving. Good car so far.
