guys (and girls) thx for the feedback etc on trading my 05 g6 gt for a gtp- I did it --the red tag sale finalized it - i got the ivory white-etc etc-pics to folow as soon as the rain tops. they paid off 05 loan at 10 + % -got a new loan at 3.9% about $75 cheaper per month-did i lose money-some-you always lose with a auto- what is the difference between the t45 in the gt and the t65 transmission in the gtp? --thx again

Good work!
Not too sure about the technical specs, but I hear the GTP tranny can take more of a beating, i.e. it's made with performance in mind.

The 4T65-E is the same transmission used on the 3800-series engine, capable of the higher torque and horsepower in the GTP.
The 4T45-E is a lighter-duty transmission, used on the 3500-series engines, and is a carryover from the 3400 engine in the Grand Am. It is also used on both Cobalt engines.
4T45-E ratios:
rev - 2.14
1 - 2.95
2 - 1.62
3 - 1.00
4 - 0.68
4T65-E ratios:
rev - 2.38
1 - 2.92
2 - 1.56
3 - 1.00
4 - 0.70

The 4T65 is only used on Supercharged 3800's (L67's) the L32 Equipped cars get the 4T60.
