: Interest in summertime G6OC meet?
sunrunner_pei 12-05-2005, 12:52 PM The Grand Am Owners Club (http://www.gaownersclub.com) (GAOC) with the help of Club ECM (http://www.clubecm.com) will be hosting it's annual meet in Albany, NY again this summer. We extended the meet to include the G6, however no G6 owners registered. This poll is to gauge interest in attanding the meet this summer. If there is enough interest we will make it an official GAOC/G6OC meet.
Subtle_Cynicism 12-05-2005, 03:23 PM I wanted to go last time, but due to money and time constraints with college, it made it difficult to even think about travelling that far. I want to go, and I might go this summer, but it's a long way from Upper Michigan/ Minneapolis.
G6Action 12-05-2005, 03:59 PM i would rather it be more centrally located, like maybe 'INDIANA', but since i like to travel and having NEVER been to NY, 'what the heck?'
count me in!!!

sactruck 12-05-2005, 04:07 PM I live in Queensbury N.Y. and may attend depending on my schedule.
920 miles... It would be fun, but I'll have to decline this time.
Blackrider 12-05-2005, 06:17 PM 12,000KM Round trip is a bit to far for me. If I still lived in Manitoba, I would be all over it.

we don't have patience. but getting myself all angry and livid won't accomplish anything. my dealer isn't at fault. the body shop isn't at fault. the blame for this mess falls on GM...they f'ed up...and they're the reason i sat 3 weeks without parts...
and as an aside, we got bad info...AGAIN. part won't hit jersey until tomorrow. i'm so sick of the bs. just want my damn car back.

hey, shawn & kelly
why does the 'meet' always have to be in upstate N.Y.? are a majority of the members from this area?
wouldn't it be better to maybe move it around each year so that others that are further away may attend?
while i am seriously considering attending this year in N.Y., its only because i would have the time and have never been there.
just a thought........ :dogpile:
1/16/2006.....guess i 'killed' that thread just by merely suggesting that the G6OC meet somewhere other than the great state of New York.....anyone care to comment?

The official meet always has been held in Albany, NY. However, members are always encouraged to set up their own meets wherever they so wish. The Grand Am Owners Club has several meets all over North America every year, the G6OC should be no different.
As for why NY? Simple. Albany, NY is surrounded by a large membership base. Central US geographically does not represent 'Central' with regards to members. And that completely rules out Canadian members. Most membership tends to be along the coasts and the Canadian border. By holding the meet in Albany, we have people making the trip from Eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island), Michigan, Ihio, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. We also have had members fly and in from Texas, Florida, and North Carolina.
As well, it wouldn't be an official meet if the owners and administration of the sites could not attend. And Albany NY is about as far as we can possibly drive to be able to attend.
Albany also has all we need for the meet. Good attractions, car washes, shopping, bars, a great hotel, a dragstrip we have a good working relationship with, and a good park to meet in where we can get the cars together.
Asking almost EVERYONE to drive for 2-3 days to a central location for the simple fact that it is 'central' just doesn't seem right.
I hope that better explains our reasoning.

I don't find it funny at all.

sunrunner_pei 04-18-2006, 11:51 AM The meet will be held August 3-6, 2006. The information page is still under construction, but is found here: http://www.gaownersclub.com/albany_2006
I will be registering in a week or two. I just have to take care of a few things first. ;)
