So I havent driven my G6 in like 3 days. So I go to move it in my driveway and when I started it, it was idling rough and then i notice a huge cloud of smoke. Smelled like it was burning oil. This car is less than 2 years old and only has 24000 miles. Is this normal? Doesnt seem like it to me, I have a 1999 Grand Prix GTP and I can let it sit for weeks and it never does anything like this.

What should I do though. If I take it to the dealer its not gonna do it unless they let it sit for a couple days and I doubt they will give me a rental car that long.

If it wer my car I would suspect it is either a valve seal or one of the piston rings. If you tell the dealer about the symptom they can confirm it very quickly. The cylinder or cylinders that are having the problem will have unusually-colored deposits on the spark plugs.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll call the dealer on Monday. I hope they can take care of this without jerking me around like they usually do. I don't have time to deal with them as I am going to school and work both full time. Another thing I plan to address is that the transmission jerks downshifting to a stop. They have told me this is normal but it only does it after its warmed up. Anybody know what that could be?

I have a 2009 GXP and it also jerks coming to a stop, not hard, but I can feel it.

If it jerks when coming to a jerk it might be warped rotors. Unless you've replaced them lately I know GM brakes are known for it

Could something have crawled into the exhaust maybe? lol. Idk, could be carbon build up, or alot of things.
