3.6L V6, six-speed stick, 18" wheels, and 275HP? Sounds yummy. I gotta get me one *if* it gets approved...

I hope to catch a glimpse of it myself if they have it at the North American Autoshow this year...if they do I'll have photos...that car looks sweet!! Maybe Adam will come by soon...he always seems to have the inside scoop on these things... :D

It looks nice! I still don't like it when they add ribbing down the side!

Just goes to show how similar the two cars look. Brand Identity at its finest. :)

That's VERY VERY close ;)

Interior is going to be a bit different. But all the "rumors" that are floating are mostly true. GM hasn't hid this one as they're looking really to impress those that have been dogging the G6.

If it's anything like ther concept, they can consider me impressed. :)

... there will have to be something to bet me TOTALLY interested as I am still "on the fence" about the styling but I would certainly like more power :)

^I'm with you on this one the styling is OK but it would really perk my intrest if the production vehicle actually had 275 ponies(the more the better) and 6 speed manual....BTW Adam do you know is that GXP a NA engine or not? And what is the starting price going to be? ;)

I'd expect starting prices to be much around current GTP Grand Prix Pricing. It's supercharged engine as of right now.

I would enjoy the 275hp..however not in a FWD package...even the GTP with "magnasteering" (I believer thats the name) had too much trq steer for my taste. Should be an interesting car though.

The engine in this vehicle is similar to 3.6 DOHC used in current Cadillac CTS (and other vehicles). That one is rated at 255 HP so this one must be tweaked a bit.

Usually HO models just have 'revised heads' (probably just ported bowls) and a slightly better cam. They could easily meet the power levels they want.

Yeah, but the diference between 'virtually no' and 'none' are pretty large. Especially when you not used to it at all.

Yeah, but the diference between 'virtually no' and 'none' are pretty large. Especially when you not used to it at all. When you consider the GAGT stock is 175 hp/205 lb-ft tq. and my GAGT is pushing 260 hp/280 lb-ft tq., a little pull is to be expected. My car is not the strongest SC GAGT. There are a couple of SC GAGT's pushing in excess of 300hp. The torque steer I experience is very slight and considering the amount of hp, that is a credit to GM's suspension tuning of the GAGT. :)

Impressive... but even with the special steering in the GP GTP I felt enough trq steer for it to be annoying. I guess I would just rather have NONE. :) As they say..Different strokes....

So is there any kind of update on this? I know there will be a G6 GTP with the 3900 OHV V-6 coming out this summer, is the GXP option still on the table?

this car looks awsome i have never apreciated pontiacs until i bought the g6 now i think they all look pretty good.

I think its funny that the GXP can have a 3.6L and push out 275, but the GTP has a 3.9L and has 240. That's odd.

I do, however, like the front bumper of that G6 a LOT more.

I do work with the company that is building the engine for GM for the SEMA show in Las Vegas in NOV. The engine should produce 290hp. They ported the heads, replaced the cams and added headers to the 3.9L engine.

again, i'm finding myself AGREEING with S.C. (maybe we were twins, separated at birth?)

hummmm...on my way back from lunch, i think i may have an 'accident' and need the front fascia replaced......oh, maybe i better wait until that one is available before i have my 'accident', DOH!!!

The front fascia is the decision maker for me. I just don't like it... I love how it looks on the Grand Prix though. I hope it gets a facelift when/if it gets the green light. If not, I might just settle for a G6 GTP... but that 275 or more hp would be surely missed...

I've heard that with the new high-pressure fuel-rail system they are currently working on, that the 3.6L HFV6 should be capable of ~300hp. That's pretty impressive. Now they just need to finish working on it...
