In talks with General Motors. The G6 is NOT a direct replacement for the Grand Am as some have said.

The G6 is actually replacing a line and a half so to speak.

With the upcoming debut of the V8 Grand Prix, expect to see the GTP line dropped in favor of the V8. The G6 is replacing the grand am, and lower line Grand Prixs such as the SE lines of yesterday. The G6 is designed to offer what the Grand Am's did, as well as fit that lower level market for a larger car such as the Grand Prix.

Just some food for thought.

Interesting thought to consider. It's obvious that the G6 is a more up-level car than the Grand Am. That said though, I'm not sure if it's the best direction to take. The demise of the Grand Am has left a hole in GM's lineup, IMO. The G6 is a nice car; it just isn't going to appeal to everyone.

I think they're counting on the Pursuit to fill-up the older lower-trim GAs, just like they're using the G6 to cover for the older GP lower trims.

Then they have the Wave filling in for entry-level Sunfires...

Maybe so, Ben. :)

I must admit after driving it again last night that I LOVE the drive!!! I still don't like the radio or the small trunk access. I am still pissed off about the small trunk size (golf clubs are a challenge), even compared to my Civic; but I would definately consider buying one! I hope I get one soon!

I still need to get out for a test drive. If only the weather would cooperate. :(

I guess that kinda makes sense.

But in a way, it also still doesn't. By consolidating the Grand Am size line and the Grand Prix SE lines into one, in-between sized car (does that make sense?), Pontiac is destroying two big sellers. The Grand Am obviously was a HUGE seller and not everyone can afford the luxeries of the uplevel Grand Prix models. I know many people who need the space of a Grand Prix, yet can't afford all the pricy higher levels, and relied on the SE for that, but consider the G6 to be too small.

^ You should go to a dealer and sit in a Grand Prix, then go sit in a G6. You wil find that the G6 is a bigger car inside. The trunk is only marginally smaller than a GP.

But then you pop the hood and then that is where the difference is.
