Hey Everyone,

How Many Of You Have Winter Beaters, So You Don't Have To Drive Your G6's In The Crappy Winter Weather, And What Is It?
I Have A 79 Bonneville To Get Me Through The Winter Months (only When It's Crappy Out) Every Chance I Get I'm Driving My Gtp Coupe.

We get snow maybe twice a year here, but when I lived in winnipeg, i drove a 87 Mercury Tracer in the winter.

I can barely afford my G6, never mind a beater. It's been waxed many many times since August though, so hopefully that will protect the paint some bit, and as for the wheels, I just clean them every now and then in my garage before the snow/salt combo starts taking effect on them.

The G6 is a winter beater.

^ I was going to say the exact same thing! Hahahaha The G6 isn't the kind of car I would be concerned about "saving from the winter". Its a midsize family car, not an exotic automobile!

LOL..only reason the Fbody/Mustang crowd usually get Winter beaters is for 1 of 2 reasons.

1) Car is broke anyways.. so they need a winter beater.

2) Car makes too much HP / Is too scary in the snow to drive.

Otherwise they are not exotic enough to even bother parking for the winter. :) Give me a C5 or C6 and you will see me out there crusing in the snow. ha ha

^ Hell yeah, a 'Vette would be fun as hell in the snow! My dad's '05 GTO is quite a blast without snow tires!

:) I know the 96 Z is a handful with all seasons.. but its not as tame as a vette is either. How is the GTO in the snow? I am 99% sure that will be my next car.. I have a friend with a modded 04 (356rwhp) and he runs winter tires so no complaints from him.

I don't really have a need to "save" my car from the 2-3 snows we get in Arkansas. My only problem is the summer only tires. I bum my dad's 4X4 truck and it crawls along fine.

My Gtp Was A Want Not A Need. Its One Of 8 In My Fleet Of Cars.
To Me My Car Is Special It's A 6-speed Coupe That I Ordered And Waited 2 Months For. To Me Spending $20,000 + For Anything Is Worth Trying To Keep Nice For As Long As Possible. Yeah Most G6's Are For Family Duty And Are 4 Doors And Will Treated As Such. If Your A Car Guy And Have Passion For Your Hobby You Know What I Mean. History Shows That Coupes Are More Desireable And Usually Hold Value. Here In Nj Winter Kills Cars Here. Alot Of Salt Is Used On The Roadways And It Destroys Metal And Paint Jobs.

My Cars
60 Cadillac Coupe Deville
67 Pontiac Bonneville 2 Door Fastback 428 Tripower
71 Pontiac Grand Prix 455 H.o.
71 Vw Beetle
73 Cadillac Coupe Deville
79 Pontiac Bonneville--driver
99 Pontiac Trans-am 6-speed
06 Pontiac G6 Gtp Coupe 6-speed

Yeah I'm on the same boat as you my G6 already costs me toooo much money each money with the payment, insurance and gas. I can't afford a winter beater. I stored my old car for winter my 03 Grand Am GT but I don't know why I stored it for the winter I only kept it for 31 months ha almost 3 years and I traded it in. I trade cars like every other year so I don't care anymore if they see winter or not anymore ;)

Everyone will see different on this one.. not a big deal. :) Its a good thing to love your car and treat it well.

I have friends that only drive their 20K Z28s during the summer and roll around in 30 ~ 40K AWD BMW, Audis, etc during the bad weather. Just depends on what you are in too I guess. :)

So far it's been great, been out in a couple of inches of snow and he hasn't had any trouble at all. Traction control and the limited slip diff make it pretty docile. He has the 6 speed too. No winter tires either.
