Let me know what is your Top Speed and what kind of G6 you drive a 4 cyl., 3.5L or a 3.9L?

Some one here tells me that my car gone a limited at 118 mph. I buy a G6 Coupe GTP with A/T and i don't think it gone a limited at 118 mph. I think is 135 mph.

Anyone here raised the top speed of your G6? :confused:

From your other post I think yours is 118. They do it to the speed rating of the tires and for some unknown reason the all-seasons on the GTP are only T rated. Doesn't make much sense seeing the GT's come standard with V rated tires and a 135mph governor.

118 on my GTP.

I've got up to 120mph so far in my GTP 6speed...I haven't had the ability [clear roads/distance] to see what its limited at yet tho.

I have 'W' rated Bridgestones, so I would think my car tops out at 140 mph or better. I haven't pushed her past 90 mph, but I will try to push the envelope a little more when Spring is in full effect. ;)

There are ways of removing the top speed limiter. I guess my question is why would you need to? Unless you're hitting the limiter on the track you don't need to.

I just looked at the equipment listing on my car and the tires are listed as P225/50R18 S Rated tires.

Wonder why there would be a diff if yours are T rated.

I have an '05 and I do believe 115 was the most I could get.

my 4banger wont go past 112 and thats in 5th gear never gets high enough rpms to shift up if using the autoshifter. when not using it will just for gas mileage

I think I have gotten mine to about 93......LMAO. I'm scared to get a speeding ticket....I used to get them on a regular basis!

That's pretty dumb that they rate the top speed solely based on the tire rating. It seems like they would pick tires to match the car, but it certainly isn't beyond the realm of possibility of GM. I've never topped out on my G6, and I will almost certainly never do so if it doesn't have the 118 mph limiter. Mine's a 2006 GT and supposedly came with V rated tires.

The 05 GT came with V rated tires and supposedly it goes up to 135. I've got it to ONLY 125 before backing off.

It's good to see that a 06 GT can go 128- I thought that mine had the low limiter. It's also good to know that the spedometer doesn't go up to 140 for nothing lol

106 on my 2009 GT. Tried it about a week after I got to drive it the first time so I would know, and have hit the limiter a couple of times since without realizing I was going that fast.

Definitely considering a tune, not wild about the cost.

My GXP is governed to 115, I wanna say that the fiance's 08 GT with the hankook optimo's was rated to 105.

I have a 3.9L GT 6 speed manual I know i have a rev limiter i dont think its governed though because i have buried the meter in 5th gear.

My 08 GT is done at like 105 or 106

What is up with just all the crazy numbers? Do the people putting them in just have fun and pick a number haha? I just cant believe my little 4banger has a higher limit than some of the v6's.

I have a tune that unfortunately voided my warranty...but what I meant to say is that the governor without a bypass, goes directly in reference with your factory tire rating which is usually S or T=112 or 118 mph...I upgraded tires and did a ecm bypass tune so now skys the limit! Your not gonna get over 120 without atleast a U rating...V is the goal at 150MPH!!!!

118 in my 06 GTP. Doesn't take long to get there ether.

Well, I did 115 with mine. That's when I raced an 04 mustang gt.

Today I decided to let the G6 unwind a bit. I pushed it up to about 120 and didn't hit any limiters, I only slowed down because I didn't want to get a ticket. The car was still pulling hard as it hit 120 so I don't think there is any doubt that the 140 speedometer is possible.

Mine is like 180kph in my V6 trim 06 G6, which is what in mph.... Kinda slips the mind at the moment :D

had the computer shutdown my 2008 G6 GT 3.5L Auto at 118MPH, really want t remove the speed limiter, i have several stretches of hiway that I can drive to test on, one is 13 miles between exits with wide sweeper turns,

Mine is at 118 in my '07 G6 VL (I4) and it is ugly when you hit it, car jerks down to about 112 and then starts to go again.

Haven't taken my 6 above 100 yet. I got my stupid out of the way with the civic when I first got her back in 06. 147 was best I could do and the GTP is maybe 90. I've been curious as to what she'll do on an open road though.

I have an 09 g6 gt that i put goodyear eagle f1 z rated tires on just recently. how do i remove the speed limiter. i topped it out today at i think 110 but it still had a crap load of power left. it wasn't struggling at all.

Got my 05 G6 Sedan to 110 mph, I was on SH 130 Austin TX. Seeing as the car was not struggling I think it will do 120+ once I get my WAMS.
