I do not see how it connects to the vehicle, but it sounds like a flash tune. The chip for the G6 has all the parameters for each different engine available in the G6 then recognizes which engine/trans when connected to the ECU to load the correct parameters through the flash. It comes with a 100% money back guarentee including shipping with no questions asked. Might be worth the try.

Engines are controlled by computers. The computer has chip that controls the work of the engine informing how and when to adjust the vehicle's fuel-to-air ratio, timing, turbo boost, and many other things. The performance chip's purpose is to control the engine's output, particularly in the area of fuel delivery. It is designed to adjust vehicle's parameters to increase engine's power and torque. http://www.iprsystems.com/performance-chips/ Here you can find all the information about these electronic devices.

Great, lending more supposed legitimacy to the "chips" topic.

OK, I was game, I clicked on the link. Then I clicked on Pontiac. Nothing at all for the G6. What's the point of the post then?

you cant exactly sue them for not doing anything yet... you'd have to have a reason to sue... so buy then sue.

Sounds like we have a voulenteer!
Make sure you get it dyno'd before and after because "it feels faster" isn't proof

i get back into work ill do it... it wouldnt F up the engine would it? put this 60 dollar chip in to somehow fry the engine, and spent 2500 rebuilding an engine... haha not exactly on my "to do" list for the 6...

It says it helps reduce overall engine stress, and we know everything on the internet is true. And besides, why would anyone sell anything that doesn't do everything it advertises? LOL

haha righttt... i didnt say i thought it did everything it advertised lol im not real familiar with the tunings period besides it helps bring out the inner car that GM doesnt want to actually sell because that'd make to much sense.... Is it possible for a tuning chip to blow an engine?

It won't blow the engine, but it may annoy the ECM. These "chips" are just a 3-cent resistor that is connected across the Mass Air Flow sensor to make the ECM think the engine is getting more air than it is. It causes the ECM to richen the mix, meaning it adds more gas to the cylinder before it fires. This would/could result in a slight increase in power, and also a corresponding decrease in fuel economy. One of two things will eventually happen. The ECM will either decide the MAF is malfunctioning because of the screwy readings and throw a code, or the ECM will self-adapt to your new driving style and will more or less negate the short-term gains.

If you want to save yourself $58.97 get yourself a 4.7K resistor, solder a couple pieces of wire to it, and buy some scotch-lok connectors to connect it to your MAF wires. But there's no money-back guarantee on the $1.03 you'll spend doing that.

Oh by the way, doing any of the above will violate emissions control laws in states where those kinds of things apply. Something none of those companies ever tell you... The extra fuel increases your tailpipe emissions.
