halos refer to the circular light in the headlight and spyder refers to the company that made the headlight housing

according to some reviews on here...yes. a lot more 6 owners are leaning towards the Eagle Eyes brand. projector light with halos. i'm still rockin the stock housings with HID's and they do the job for me

SUMMARY

DO NOT GET SPYDERS - they are CRAP product.

Spyders are literally shit in every aspect of a headlight - quality and function

__________________________________________________ _______________

Spyders

Spyders have CRAP light out put- not safe to drive at night. big dark spot in the middle. cut off line is crap and shoots light EVERYWHERE randomly

Halos are dull, leds are crap. people have issues with it all.

you also have to wire all connections yourself

on top of that its poorly made as well...you cant adjust the lights without taking them right off the car...and the caps that cover the bulbs are just a rubber condom style thing rather than a secure hard plastic twist on cap

HIDS DO NOT FIT!

you need to file down the headlight bulb housing!

they are seriously a joke of a product

spyder themselves ripped a bunch of us off by offing them to us for cheap and everyone was pissed off

EAGLE EYES are where its at:

eagle eyes are GOOD in every aspect of a headlight

HALOS for one are bright - 4x brighter than spyders. they look A LOT better.

they dont have that random ass clear tube at the top that serves no purpose or function

you dont need to solder or make and connections yourself

have nice cut off line

can be adjusted like a regular headlight with the screw pointing up when u pop the hood

hard plastic back caps for more secure cap...and better to install hids in them - like stock

need i go on?

Ive owned both. i had spyders in...took way too long to do all the work...drove home and couldnt see shit..took them out that same night and put stocks back in...and ordered eagle eyes a week later.

spyders are WORSE than stock

eagle eyes are BETTER than stock

unless your plan is to just cheap out and never drive at night and dont care about doing all the work...and dont care about tacky looks - dull halos that you cant see during day...among other issues...and just want a black housing...i guess...go for it

if your at all concerned about ANYTHING related to quality, performance, safety...or ANYTHING...stick with stock or get eagle eyes.

anyone who endorses these headlights or suggests them should be banned for sending people down a shitty path and leading people on

Lol well my master mechanic bf has no problem with them all we did was switch out the light for a nokya 55 one and if u put hid in your dumb it says right on the housing not to so of course you had issues moron. I have no light output problem no black spot problem. Maybe you just don't know what your doing? There is no reason for you to put down other people that do like them. That ur own opinion on them but to get on here and say that my or other peoples opinions are crap is ridiculous.

While I agree with Dav3, he could've written that better and shorter. HID's are allowed on the Spyders and didn't not relate to his problems. I could go into a post similar to Dav3's, but it's best to basically say that the Eagle Eyes are better than the Spyders.

In your opinion which was my whole point in posting, I haven't had one problem with them and I have already seen an entire thread about the LEDs in the eagle eyes completley breaking in half??? And when I recieved my spyders over a year ago the back housing had a sticker that said Do Not Use With Hids Installed. Hence why I used artic white 55 nokya bulbs on mine.

then you are literally the ONLY person that has not had issues with them.

EVERYONE had issues with the spyder headlights from the group buy ( direct from spyder )....some just dealt with them saying they dont drive during night and so on.

its like comparing a beater rust bucket to a car thats new.

Go take some pictures of your light output on the road and against a wall at night and back this up because apparently you have some golden set of spyders and this now ups their defect rate from 100% to 99.999%

Again, literally EVERYONE has had issues that i mentioned above and you are the 1st person EVER claiming to not have issues.

the issues happen with stock bulbs the spyders come with, other halogen bulbs, and hids.

in fact people found the only way to make the headlights even somewhat safe was to use spacers on hids because nothing else is bright enough.

and spyder themselves said hids are fine in the headlights, and even offered a kit for them to come with hids.

so back to some proof! go snap some pics tonight

And again u don't think when we installed them we didn't line them up on a wall?! And I did switch out the lights for the nokyas for a reason I agree with you on the original light output but any other issues I haven't experienced and they have been installed for over a year on my g6 and my car is not garaged and hasn't been. It has sat outside in the snow and rain all year now. My bf wired them lined them up and I haven't had issues but like I said a master mechanic put mine on.

Really i'm bored fighting over this. Point in case is I personally have had not one issue while apparently others have. Sorry u had issues that Is your experience not mine. Just maybe next time u post u can speak from your own experience instead of saying other peoples opinions are crap and should be banned. I have pics on my gallery already so u can look at those. As for the original response to this thread I like my Spyders and I'm glad they have been great headlights for me and my car.

Yeah obviously Spyders invoke strong opinions for a lot of us but let's keep the personal attacks out http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-6/236435/grouphug.gif

I like my Spydeee halos..

Here is some pix of them last night.. I've yet to change out the bulbs I dont really like the yellowish it puts off.. however.. these pix are just with the halo's on. (also have white eyelids, I'm not too sure I like, I used to have black thicker ones on the stock headlights until the jerk who hit my car and ran smashed my front end)---see pic

Those halos are too blue for my taste. I'm glad they work for you though. I hate eyelids, but some people like them so whatever.

Droptop Diamond

The blue-ness could be the camera - on my first (failed) headlight set, the 8k HID's looked really blue in pictures but in real life only had a very slight tint.

I have the spyders, and I do agree they aren't the best. Then again, I only paid like 200. I never expected to get BMW quality headlights for that price. I took the time to file the hole and place spacers, and I have to say they are alot better. I have 55 watt HID's in my low beams and 35 watts in my fogs. With that, I have quite a bit of light. I do see the dark spot off in the distance, but with how the light from the HID's reflect off objects so much better, it isn't all that bad. I must say though, the halogen bulbs that came with them were awful. Again, I didn't expect them to be all that impressive for 200.

@Dav3- as for your "anyone who endorses these headlights or suggests them should be banned for sending people down a shitty path and leading people on" comment, that is a bit unnecessary. There were countless reviews from people before the group buy even happened, discussing the issues. Yet, you still purchased them. People gave you fair warning, and you got burned. That's the way life works sometimes man. With the option of eagle eyes now (meaning they weren't around back when the group buy happened), I would definitely have bought them instead. The point of these forums is to discuss the car and provide people with good, helpful information. Your post was a great review of the two..... until you started bashing people. I have a feeling no one wants to see that.

I have a question, I have just bought a new headlights like your to my 2008 Pontiac G6 and everything works perfect but one thing. See the upper large light it is the only thing is not working and I dont know why. I think the cables are properly installed or maybe I am missing something. Does anyone knows why or what to do?
Thank you!!!!

those are the spyders.

both links ?

care9012
04-14-2011, 06:31 AM
Yeah, both of those links are. I think one of the easiest ways to tell spyders from eagle eyes is the little like light tube on top of the spyders. It is there just for show, since it doesn't actually light up. Eagle eyes were smart enough not to put that on there haha.

might be a post count issue. i know you cant post something for sale unless you have ten posts. look in the for sale thread. If you really want to try the spyders DJB1209 is selling a set with HID's for cheap.

Anyone who has had spyder halo lights for awhile and gives them a good review is either a moron or a liar. Take your pick.
I bought a pair of couple of years back and the mounting bracket that mounts the light to your car with a nut broke off on of them. I had to go to the Home Depot and gather supplies to fix the damn thing.

The lights bounce up and down when i drive just shitty lights.

Droptop Diamond - Where can I find your headlights and who makes them? I havent been in the loop with the different kinds, but those look pretty sweet and wouldnt mind getting them for my blue g6. Thanks! :D

Droptop Diamond
05-05-2011, 06:13 PM
Oh yeah, those. Um, well, there were some, ah, issues with LED's conking out. Short answer is that the guy who made them is not making any more, at least not until certain issues are resolved , and I currently have a different set (Eagle Eyes) that I'm well pleased with :D

Thanks for the reply! Those are some sharp looking lights, too bad they didnt work out. I would have loved a set. Perhaps I should try and make something myself... haha
