I hammerd on it the other day in frount of a cop, he got me doing 91KPH in a 50 (this is on a highway BTW) He was a nice guy he dropped it down to 89 so my ticket didnt double and he ignored the "Laying of rubber" so all said and done 175 dollar fine.

After we where done with the ticket he was asking me what gear i got into and told me where I could go to do this where the cops wouldent bother me. He was really nice.

May I be the first to say-- You're an idiot... speed limits are for a reason, the fact that it was a 45mph zone tells me it was an area that wasn't safe for speeds like you describe. Was it residential? I do note that it was within city limits, also it was in the middle of the afternoon-- What if a kid darted out across the road late for soccer practice...

Bottom line, even though speeds that high don't belong on any highway-- at least don't do it inside the city limits...

When I lived in Florida, if you werent going at least 90... you risked getting hit from behind by someone who was!!! I'll fill you in on what the judge told me when I got my ticket. "if you want to risk your own life.. go ahead.. its yours to do so with"!!!

Yeah it was dumb i don't deny that but this was not on a busy road nor at a busy time to drive....3:00am on new year's day! I have lived there 3 years, and this was the first time i have even seen a cop on that road at that time of night. The part of town has a low crime rate and not to mention the most establised citizens in the state. I would not drive like that around congested areas. I"m not a manic... It was the last 2 miles before i pull onto my street... Perfect to test top end speed on, just as long as you don't hit a deer...
thanks for the replys
stay safe

Ooookkkk, well anyway, the time was marked wrong on the ticket, it said 2:30 pm or maybe 2:50 pm, so that is a little different than the afternoon... Just drunk drivers out at that time of the day.
Peace out :)

You're lucky, but you picked the absolute worst night of the year to test the top end, New Years Eve, come on think about it... I've topped mine out on the highway a couple of times, but never on a road with that slow of a limit.

It amazes me that some peole can be so STUPID. What would have happened if you would have hit another car and killed them.
Yeah you would have Life In The Fast Lane....Just one word of advise dont bend over for the soap!!!

Presumably y'alls tales of speed are defined in your G6s or other f-a-s-t cars, correct??? I too have a story of stupidity - though at the time I felt I was being unnecessarily detained as I believe I AM a safe driver. I don't recall the fine on the ticket but rather what I was driving & the story behind the stoppage. This happened pre-2000 when I still lived in the Pacific Northwest. I was heading back to Oregon from Washington in the winter time. I was driving my 1966 Lincoln Continental with suicide doors (this car was white & a show winner - all stock). As I headed up to the top of the pass doing probably 70 mph on compact snow & ice with studs all around, I had gotten into a fog bank & passed a state trooper alongside the roadway. I saw him before he saw me. Nonetheless had I slowed to accomodate what the officer later thought to be a safe speed for the conditions (less than half what I was doing), I believe a wreck may've ensued. I topped the pass & pulled well over into a clearing that I was well familiar with (not so far though that the trooper couldn't have seen me), shut off the car, got out & waited leaning against the driver's door (in the hazy fog). I must have waited at least 30 seconds before he wizzed by me. As his car faded in the fog I saw his brake lights. He carefully flipped a U-turn & came back to chat. I was wrong & knew it, but not ashamed of the act at all. He came back, parked got out his trooper hat & ticket board & approached me staring at the car's condition. He circled the car, looked at me & said with a smile, "There's a first time for everything..." We chatted for about 20 minutes & I proudly showed him the car - engine & all. Then he got down to business.
