Hello Guys,

I recently purchased a 2009.5 Pontiac G6 GT and I'm really liking it, I've owned many Pontiacs over the years including 2 Grand Am's and a Grand Prix. As my Grand Prix was going on 10 years old I decided now was the time to purchase one last Pontiac with a warranty, sad their gone isn't it?

Anyways I've tried my best to answer my question without having to ask in case it's been answered many times but couldn't find a lot of information. On the 09.5's the DIC is built in right under the speedometer and fortunately not in the radio. I'm looking at possibly adding a aftermarket head unit ( I have the monsoon system, hopefully this functions as normal with a new HU ) because I'd kinda like to get at least a few 10's set up nicely in the trunk to give it a little thump.

Now with the DIC being under the speedometer is any functionality going to be lost by removing the stock player? I really would like to retain all of the DIC's functionality as most of it is quite slick and occasionally useful.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help!

Hey did you guys read about the new speed bumps in Canada??

Officials in West Vancouver, Canada, apparently aren't satisfied with the driver-slowing properties of traditional speed bumps. On Tuesday, the town unveiled a new way to persuade motorists to ease off the gas pedal in the vicinity of the École Pauline Johnson Elementary School: a 2-D image of a child playing, creating the illusion that the approaching driver will soon blast into a child.

According to Discover magazine, the pavement painting appears to rise up as the driver gets closer to it, reaching full 3-D realism at around 100 feet: "Its designers created the image to give drivers who travel at the street's recommended 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour) enough time to stop before hitting Pavement Patty -- acknowledging the spectacle before they continue to safely roll over her."

You have to wonder if the designers of the "speed bump of the future" considered that drivers might become conditioned to disregard Pavement Patty and her imaginary cohorts, creating something similar to a "boy who cried wolf" effect. Couldn't such conditioning reduce drivers' caution if a real child should cross their path?

Asked whether confusing and/or tricking drivers with such images might create such unintended hazards, David Dunne of the British Columbia Automobile Association Traffic Safety Foundation said that pedestrians need to be just as alert as drivers.

"People tune out. It takes an attitude shift for people to change," Dunne said. "Pedestrians need an attitude shift too. They have to realize that just because they are in a crosswalk doesn't mean they are safe. In fact, most get hit while using crosswalks."

As for drivers who become can't process optical illusions, Dunne argued that they have no business on the road in the first place.

"It's a static image," he said. "If a driver can't respond to this appropriately, that person shouldn't be driving, and that's a whole different problem."

3rd Mod: 6/3, Put on the Front Pipe Upgrade. I made a slightly larger hole and popped the vacuum tube into the hole and sealed the penetration around it. I've gotta take the male portion of the stock vacuum connection off the stock intake, and then seal it to the silicone bend that goes to the throttle body! How's it Look?

1. so i just got a g6 like a month ago and i want to install my old system in it... but i got a problem, how do i tell if its a monsoon system?

i checked the bottom of the 6x9's magnet in the back and i do not see any sort of brand name to tell me, there is no monsoon logo on the stereo head unit, there is no stock subwoofer and there is only 2 wires going to each 6x9 in the back and not 4 like i've read about.... also i do not find this "amplifier" im also reading about

2. how are the door speakers wired? is the tweeter wired separately or is it together with the door speaker?
like should i buy component speakers with a separate woofer and tweeter to replace the tweeter and speaker on the doors?
or should i buy a regular speaker with a tweeter on it and separate tweeters to replace the stock?
... is the wiring to the tweeter only highs and the woofer is only lows? i dont want to spend the extra money on a speaker with tweeters on it if they arent even going to be used

3. if i replace the 6 x 9's, is it worth saving the $60 to have like best buy install them or is it easier than it looks to replace it and $60 isnt going to be worth the installment?
all other wiring im going to do. (amp, receiver, door speakers)

4. if i do get new front tweeters, do they have to be 1 1/2 or can they be smaller, or would that be a bad idea?

5. if i replace my speakers, should i go with the higher watt speaker or should i go with the lower-watt speaker since im just going to use the head unit with no amp (price doesn't matter on these 2 items below)
like uh these:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...S-GTX1641.html
vs.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...S-GT1626A.html

thanks, sorry if its confusing, it's just im so confused, lol.

The car has been in a Chevy dealership for a week and I have been told that they can not find one in any GM dealership's inventory in the United States. They have not been able to give me a time frame when I can expect to see one. The GTP has the 252 hp 3.6 liter engine in it.

I have also called a couple of other GM dealers in the area and have received the same answer. Any recommendations on how to get one? There also appears to be two alternator options listed for this particular engine that no parts dealer could really answer.

So ive had my g6 for around a month now. About a week after purchasing I went to go unlock my car, and nothing happend. I checked every electrical peice of the car, nothing was getting power. I took it to the dealership, and they said it was the battery. Due to the timely problem, it was replaced for free, along with my tires. About a week after that the same issue happend again and my aunt who works for a local toyota dealership looked at it and realized they had not put the battery terminals on properly at the dealership and it seemed to be working fine after this.

However, yesterday I went to go turn on the car and once again nothing. All power was not working so i had to jump my car to get it to the dealership. Once the car was not driving and the engine was off, within 3 minutes everything turned off again. The dealership just called me and said the alternator is malfunctioning and isnt charging the battery, though, is it just me or if the alternator was malfunctioning wouldnt the car have had a slim to none chance of making it 30 miles to the dealership (in stop and go city traffic)?
