i checked the bottom of the 6x9's magnet in the back and i do not see any sort of brand name to tell me, there is no monsoon logo on the stereo head unit, there is no stock subwoofer and there is only 2 wires going to each 6x9 in the back and not 4 like i've read about.... also i do not find this "amplifier" im also reading about

2. how are the door speakers wired? is the tweeter wired separately or is it together with the door speaker?
like should i buy component speakers with a separate woofer and tweeter to replace the tweeter and speaker on the doors?
or should i buy a regular speaker with a tweeter on it and separate tweeters to replace the stock?
... is the wiring to the tweeter only highs and the woofer is only lows? i dont want to spend the extra money on a speaker with tweeters on it if they arent even going to be used

3. if i replace the 6 x 9's, is it worth saving the $60 to have like best buy install them or is it easier than it looks to replace it and $60 isnt going to be worth the installment?
all other wiring im going to do. (amp, receiver, door speakers)

4. if i do get new front tweeters, do they have to be 1 1/2 or can they be smaller, or would that be a bad idea?

5. if i replace my speakers, should i go with the higher watt speaker or should i go with the lower-watt speaker since im just going to use the head unit with no amp (price doesn't matter on these 2 items below)

ive only had my G6 for about 3 1/2 months now. and i had some 10" kenwoods in my eclipse for clarity hooked up just to a sony xplod head unit. but that car was a piece of junk. now since i got a 2006 g6 gt im not gonna really replace the factory HU til i can get a 7din HU to put in so i dont have rca plugs on the back. but anyways i got 2 12" black mamba's and just bought a cheap lanzar 3000w amp thinking itll put out ehhh about 2400w. the subs have a 600rms and either a 1200 or 1400w peak. so i ran the positive from the battery to the trunk. grounded it to just the body (grinded paint off). ive checked the positive and ground with a tester. their good. the remote i hooked to a fuse it works fine. the whole amp gets power and light comes on. i bought 12 guage wire for the subs (some brand that said "highly recommended for sub woofers) and i got the LOC (line-out convertor) i hooked the LOC to one of the 6x9's in the trunk (the LOC is Scosche or however you spell it and can be tuned i have it ALL turned ALL THE WAY UP) and i got the diagram to show which wires were positive and neg. so their hooked up right. but when i run the rca cables to the amp...no sound comes out. now if i dont plug them in, and i just set them in the holes and make em touch the inside they play out of the subs. however NOT LOUD AT ALL. my 6" up front are louder. i have NEVER had this problem. can ANYONE help me :/ ]]> Car Audio, Video and Security AlmostEvil http://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7697 http://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7680&goto=newpost Sat, 04 Sep 2010 04:53:45 GMT Im worried that with a flip up screen using the metra system that it blocks the vents. The only problem I have is that the backlighting of the LCD display for the DIC is lit during the day when I don't need it, and NOT lit at night when I DO need it. I want to maintain the functions that are in the current radio, ie. Oil Life, Trip, MPG, Clock, Lock Settings, etc. From the reading I have done, it looks like my only option is to replace the entire radio with expanded model.

I found some on ebay that have the buttons stated above, and have a 3.5mm jack for iPod, are there other options?

Can a 2008 or 2009 G6 radio go into a 2007 without issues? I saw the newer radios that are blue like other GM cars rather than red.

Will I run into issues because I have the Value Leader model?

Can you swap out everything for a non-GM radio and still have control over the Oil Life, Trip, MPG, Clock, Lock Settings etc.?

Are there other places to get the radio other than eBay?

Does a new Radio need the be activated...?

While there, we were told that I had to buy a $200 adapter to complete the circuit for the warning lights and sounds.

Since then i had to sell my radio and parts, and I forget what the name of that adapter is.

Does anyone know the name of this? Or if I even need it?

Best buy spent 3 hours installing a new stereo for me. But they said since it's "integrated" with the Monsoon system, it pops when I change tracks, and when I turn the volume to "0."

I said this is poor work, and they said they can "bypass" the amp to solve the problem, for an additional $200 in parts and labor. The first step cost me $200 in parts and labor.

Is this necessary?
