I just had to replace the battery in my 2008 G6 with the 3.5L motor. I think it's the first time since I bought the car new, that I've ever had to disconnect the battery. I installed a new battery. Now, the key fobs don't work. I checked the fuse and it is fine. I called the dealer and they said that the car can sometimes lose the programming for the key fobs when the battery is disconnected. But they offered to reprogram it for $30 per key fob!
So, any time I ever have to disconnect the battery in the future, I can expect to pay GM $60 to reprogram these stupid things? I found stuff on this forum and elsewhere on the internet on reprogramming the FOB. I spent an hour in my driveway inserting and removing the key, turning the car on and off, opening and closing the door, etc. I'm pretty sure that stuff is just on the internet to piss me off and make me look like a jackass in my driveway.
This is the key fob with the remote start option. Thoughts?
