Exclamation Air Control Dash Lighting

Hello everyone,

I LOVE my G6, LOVE it, I baby that thing and I'm (excuse my language to some) anal about it. So when this problem started, I began to freak out.

When all the dash board awesome red lighting goes on, sometimes my Air Control (1,2,3,4) knob will not light up unless I physically tap it (sometimes hard). I'm assuming the light-bulb is just loose. How would I go about fixing this? I really don't want to take anything apart because things will never be the same and I really don't want anything to go wrong since this is my first car and I freaking love this thing.

It's a 2007 V6, I assuming 1SE? I can get pictures if needed.

Thank you.

Garage
sounds like a loose led or maybe an led slowly going out? theres a how to or an explanation of replacing those led's somewhere here but it involves tearing apart pretty much your whole dash.

On the manual climate control head unit on my 09 Aura the lamps are all LED & not replaceable (soldered in place). The automatic climate control head does have replaceable lamps. I've no idea if that hold true for the G6.

Thanks for the response. I can't believe an LED would go out so quickly. Aren't they known for saying lit for like so many years? I mean the car is only three or four years old (if they are LEDS).

It's true that mean-time-to-failure is typically much greater for LEDs. But to tell you the truth, I can't remember seeing that issue before on the manual climate control head. You can probably find one pulled from a wreck on eBay for not very much if you're so inclined. Maybe that LED just has a poor solder connection to the board. Just remember, I have not pulled the front bezel off a G6 manual head, so I could be all wrong about the lamps. You would have to pull the bezel to really know.

Apparently I did not search hard enough because I just ran across these threads on an '05 & '06 manual climate control head units also having lamp problems:

https://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6009

https://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5713

Quoted from datacat:

"I have opened another climate control panel and there is infact 2 leds under the fan control. I don't know what the chances are for both led's blowing at the same time but I would assume it's a resistor or some other bad solder joint."
