Intermittent Airbag Warning Light
I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe with almost 45k on the odo. The Airbag Warning light has come on twice over the course of the past 3 months or so.
The first time I was driving home from work about 3 months ago it came on. Then it went off, then on again during the course of the drive. But didn't come on during the following start-up. Then, it came on again about a month ago right at start-up. I turned the car off, then back on again & the light was off.
I needed to take the car in for some powertrain warranty work, so I asked them to check it out (even though the light was, and still is, not on). This Chevy dealer tells me that there is a technical service bulletin out on this problem (TSB# 10-09-41-003A) the module under the passenger seat needed to be replaced.
But what struck me as odd is they told me that they would need to replace the heating element in the seat too over the course of the repair. And that currently the passenger airbag system wasn't functioning.
During both times the Airbag warning light came on, I was the only one in the car. Whenever I have a passenger, the passenger air bag switch always goes to 'ON' & is 'OFF' when no one is there.
Since this dealer is known for being shady, I'm not sure I believe them when they say it's not working. Because wouldn't the air bag light always be on if that is the case.
Has anyone ever had this problem before and/or can verify that dealer is telling the truth & my passenger airbag is really non-operational?
