06 G6 Starting Problems

I have had the normal hard start problems that almost everyone has had as far as I can tell. However, last night I turned the key and I got nothing! Tried it again and the car started normaly, but! The Stereo started clicking the CD's around even though it was set on FM1, and the clock went back to 12:00, all other settings were not affected.

Today, the same thing except once. That was when I used the second key the first time. After that, back to the no start, radio reset thing again.

Anyone have this problem, and what was done to fix it?

Thanks for any help guys!

You should be able to get your battery checked for free at a parts store. Check terminal and ground connections. Could be as simple as a bad ground, bad battery, a short, or something bigger.

"...I turned the key and I got nothing!"

More details on this. No cranking? No clicking starter solenoid? What is happening with the dash lamps? What is happening with the headlamps when try to start it?

Update

Not thinking about thinking smart, I hadn't even considered the battery. Reason being, it was recently replaced and had all the corrosion seals and gel applied. After trying to troubleshoot the problem again, I got to noticing that during a failed attempt there was an arcing sound, then the Engine would start on the next attempt. Then noticing a dark spot under the gel on the negative battery post I got curious. I actually found that the positive post had corrosion under all the protection. After cleaning up the connection and putting it all back together, it starts just fine now.

Just goes to show, never overlook the simple things!

Thanks for all the input...

If you apply dielectric silicone gel right on the mating surfaces of electrical connections it will prevent corrosion.
