Need some info to make sure im correct.

Hi all new 2005 g6 gt loaded with panorama sunroof auto start leather heated seats etc.

New to forums and im having trouble finding answers.

My question is the car didnt come with a key fob and it has an annoying alarm every time i lock my door by pushing the lock button when i start it an alarm goes off. I have to quickly put the key in to turn it off. Now i purchased a new fob and will get it friday - monday. Now is there a way to disable it until i get the new fob.

Next question. My DIC says security mk something and passive. what are the differences?

and last. I would like to put in a new radio a double din and i read this post
https://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=12178
I saw that you can buy a dic from metra- are there any that arent a actual radio slot so i can mount it elsewhere. and the axxess harness is needed for the double din radio correct. just want to make sure i have all the parts i need to make my car mine if i use a double din radio do i need an install kit?

any other help that can increase power/fuel mileage and looks would be great.

Thank you for reading and if you respond i thank you in advance.
Jamie

Welcome to the site!
I'm not sure of any way to disable the factory alarm. All I'm aware of is to lock the doors manually. So it'll be locked bu no alarm active. That can be a pain running around the whole car but it's an idea.

I'm also not sure about the DIC messages. I haven't seen either before.

You can easily put in a double din radio. Some users on here have gotten the metra kit and simply put it some place else. Like the center storage box or the glove compartment.
So it's still there and useful but out of site.

As far as increase Power/Mileage.
Look into getting an intake and possibly a tune.
You can get an intake from CrabIntakes.com good stuff.
And a tune from WAMS
The intake alone should make it sound and feel a lot better and give you some gains in the MPG and HP department. not a lot but some.

If you get it tuned, you can run premium gas and actually see a gain of about 12-15 HP and a gain of 1-3 MPG on average. Though you'll need to buy the more expensive gas in that case

On an '05, content theft alarm will not enable if you only use the lock lever/lock pin to lock the door.

I'd need the exact wording.

Crutchfield will give you those details & you can purchase the gear wherever.

Do u have the monsoon stereo or just the plain one. Any double din should work. You can go without the DIC metra kit you'll just loose the ability to change settings and such

Idk about the DIC but I see the thread you quoted was from my post lol you can either get one or the other of those harnesses. The metra one keeps your DIC and leaves a spot for a single din should you wish to use one. Or if you want a double din you can cut off the top slot since it will be useless and mount it somewhere else so you still have access to it. On the other hand you can use just the axxess harness which is what I did. You lose your DIC but its more of a budget thing. The metra piece is about 130 bucks or so and the axxess harness is only 60. It will still keep all your warning chimes and whatnot you just won't have the info center. So its really just a matter of preference and how much work you want to do and your budget.

As far as the amp goes. I don't think it comes with a factory amp but I could be mistaken. (I don't have the monsoon system) but if it does a lot of times they're either under the drivers seat or on the bottom of the rear deck lid in the top of the trunk. And sometimes on the side of the trunk where the fuse box would be behind the carpet.

And for power. Crabs and wams hands down.

Thank you all for the posts. This is the radio i would like to buy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120889246468...t_13552wt_1154

To answer an earlier post yes i have the mongoose 6cd changer 200w and the dic message was security:rke or passive
Now i know its not a good name brand lol but ive seen it in action and like it. As for the DIC im not sure if i will ever use it really and if i need it in the future i can purchase the metra one and install it elsewhere my question is what do i need to make this work. Do i need a dash install kit or would this radio fit? Do i need any special harnesses or modules to keep my chimes etc what radio harness would i need. If anyone knows about the amp and can help that would be good im gonna go out in a bit and look to see if i can find an amp is there an rpo code that might show up in the glovebox that would let me know if it has one?
I just want to know what to buy to see if i can afford it and where i can buy it.
Thank you
Jamie

Check out www.crutchfield.com
They have what you need for a new stereo, such as the harness and dash kit like this:

Cruchfield says this

Installation Details
Installation Details for your 2005 Pontiac G6 Sedan with Monsoon sound system; without OnStar
Fold-down face receivers will not fit your vehicle. Please verify that your new receiver does not have a fold-down face.
The color of this installation kit is black.
You will lose the ability to change certain settings in the factory computer by replacing the factory radio. Please consult your owner's manual for a complete list of functions that the factory radio can control.
You'll lose your factory XM capability if you replace your factory radio.

is the part about the fold down face receiver true?? i believe the radio i want folds down to install cds and stuff

I looked at that ebay listing, it does fold down. I'm not sure if anyone else has em. I would think a fold down should still work due to the fact it's mounted all the way to the edge...

Try looking through or posting in the Car Audio thread...
https://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19

You may have way more luck finding out if a flip down head unit will work.
I'm almost sure it'll work because I've seen pictures of double dins that didn't have a CD slot, so they must have been fold down. unless they had a cd changer in the trunk...

Amp would be behind the trunk liner, pass side, forward of the tail lamp.

Well RKE is to select you want to arm the security system with the remote, and passive means the car should lock/arm itself after you leave the vehicle for a certain amount of time. I may be wrong, The manual isn't very clear on that. Or at least I couldn't find it.
I have an '09 And that option doesn't even exist for me....

The thing about fold down faceplates not working is BS. It will work fine with a fold down faceplate.
