Unhappy Remote Entry, Alarm Problem

Hey guys, I have the same problem Ive seen a few of other guys have but their post werent answered... My Remote for Entry and setting Alarm works sometimes and most times doesnt. I dont know what the problem is, took it to GM dealer and they said it works fine, they ran a test on it, but when it comes to doing it to the car most times it wont work at all.

At random, it will work and function fully... Does anyone have the same problem as me? Its a Pontiac G6 2006 V6. I just got it last weekend...

Thanks

Edit: I want to add that the battery has been changed, has a new one in it now.

it might be a battery ... try going to radio shack and getting a new battery for your remote ... it's pretty easy to open up ... just be careful ...

the battery is no more then 5 dollars ...

i have a problem with the remote start not working but i haven't gotten that fixed yet ...

hope you get it fixed

Cool FIXED :D OMG Important TIP

HEY GUYS IMPORTANT TIP HERE FOR WHOEVER ELSE HAS THIS ISSSUE.

I just decided to pop open the remote, and being careful not to move battery while doing so, and just cleaned the chip by rubbing my fingers on it, on the areas of where the buttons would press!!! It seems there was some very fine spots that appear to have been moisture, and now that I cleaned it, it fully works 100% of the time. Took me only like 10 sec of cleaning, and look at it now.

Previously, the GM guys told me that I may need a new remote, they changed battery, spent like $12 for it, and they ran tests, and it appeared on test machine that it was fine, but they said to get a new remote. They didnt do what I did, and I would have spent $80-$120 on a new remote for nothing. Well, I figured that out myself, hopefuly if theres anyone having these problems try this out before buying new remotes.

1. Pop remote open
2. Careful not to remove battery be careful (it will have to be re-programed if you do remove it)
3. Clean the chip, areas of where the buttons would press
4. Seal back up
5. ???

Profit!

Nice, who would have thought that GM would try to replace something instead of figuring out an easy fix.

ok,i fixed it,cleane the back of the rubber contacts with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab also dry them with a dry clean sawb(u dont want any alcohol on the electrical components) then take another clean swab and rub the electrical contacts until they are clean, blow off the components as thei ris no lint on them.problem fixed.

problem is caused by a weak rubber composite on the rubber contacts,it rubbs on the electrical componets and literally coats them

Also the clips in the battery compartment can come loose and you can either soldier them or replace them...I replaced them to the tune of $100 (remotes+programming)

I know you posted this i long time ago, BUT I wanted to tell you that my 2007 G6 V6 has been doing the same thing to me. Just all the sudden the remote stoped working and I tried a new battery, which was not the case, it just would work then stop, now it will not work, but the wierd thing is, is that when that stopped wokring, my car alarm started doing crazy things, like going off in the middle of the night with no one around and even the day time, but mostly mult. times during night. The dash started reading "door ajar" just as the alarm prob. began and we figured out it was the right front passenger door. Was about to take it in, but stopped reading "ajar" and alarm stopped going off out of nowhere, but now its been about a month and it has started back up again! What did you end up doing with yours and did your alarm do the same thing? HELP!

Hey there, back again. That that is really messed up. I would try taking the battery out and have it re-programmed. I dont know how much they would charge you for that though?
