Hole in engine coolant leak

I have a my G6 has my G6 has developed a serious coolant leak there is about a 1 inch diameter hole on the driver side of the block maybe 3 or 4 in below the coolant tank when you start the car coolant comes gushing out of this hole what would cause that

Looks like a freeze plug hole. It's a thin cap designed to pop out if your block freezes.
You can buy rubber replacements that has a bolt in the middle that expands the plug and makes a tight seal.
Or you can get an OEM replacement and drive it in.
Available at any auto parts store.
