start and run problem

my g6 with the smaller engine starts and then shuts off.all guages pop up nice then shuts off like no fuel.i put gas directly into thottle opening and it runs.. i have to keep applying if i want it to keep running...{it seems to have plenty of pressure in fuel rail squirts out good before starting }
