Keep an eye on those wings
I have a 07 GT convertible with 80K kilometers which I have maintained in mint condition. This year the driver side bat wing started not retracting properly. Normally these flip up then rotate sideways once the roof is retracted. Problem I'm having is the driver side no longer flips up completely out of the way so the roof catches it on the way down. I heard a sickening crunch sound and immediately released the switch. The wing was bowed but when I raised the hood back up was relieved to see it had not suffered any damage. Lowering the roof is now a 2 person operation. My wife pushes the button and I manually hold the wing up and out of the way.
Only other issue I've ever had with the car (bought it new) is a hesitation glitch with the transmission. After asking the dealer who knows how many times to fix it only to have it soon return I got into the habit of using the tap shift. When tap shifting there is no hesitation. I wonder, why is that?
Also I wonder how common the wing issue is becoming for folks?
