is it necessary to have a functioning key fob to start the car. I have checked all the fuses, mini relays, etc. Still can't start the car. I need help!:|
Fob doesn't matter.
Correct transponder key, and car programmed to recognize it are necessary.
Key may turn in cylinder, but without programming, worthless.
Without a recognized key, it's a tow to a shop to get programming done, unless you can find a mobile to do it.
Programming is usually a charge per session, so I recommend to get 2 or more done at a time. Keys not on hand at time of programming become unrecognized and are erased from vehicle.
I bought a programmer on eBay for $100 and it worked fine for me. Might not be worth the money if that's the only key you'll ever do.
