My girlfriend has a 2006 Pontiac g6 gtp. This weekend I noticed that at some point her headlights weren't working. My first thought was that I had turned off the automatic running lights by accident. Once I verified that the auto lights were on, but we still had no headlights, I tried to manually turn on the headlights. Once again, I found that we had no lights. We were driving at night at the time so I had to ride home with the high beam lights on. The high beam lights work fine, as do the side marker lights, but no low beam. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen and where should I be looking to troubleshoot the problem. Thanks in advance.
Low beams only affected as in the original post?
Very possible a bad multifunction switch but without circuit testing its impossible to know. First try swapping the low beam relay out with another (with the same number) in the engine fuse block & see if any joy to be had there. Each side is fused individually so I doubt both fuses are open. But check them anyway. What year is that vehicle?
same issue got a 05 g6 base model got a problem with my headlight every now and then when i go over a bump my passenger side drl ligh cut in and out signal wrks fine high beam wrks fine but the low beam keeps cuttin in and out in the fuse box the low beam relay is braced with a piece of styrfoam friggin guy who sold it to me never told me about it if i take the styrfoam out both headlighs low beam won't wrk. Please help me.
I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 and the low beam headlights keep going out. I replaced the whole headlight assembly 2 yrs ago so that is new. The driver and passenger low beams have stopped working every 3-4 months and I've had to change bulbs and replace connectors. I purchased new bulb and headlight connectors, and checked them on the battery to see they are working before I connect to the main wiring harness. Once I attach them to the wiring harness with connectors, cinched and waterproof connectors, no movement in the wires at all, and attach the bulb it doesn't work. The parking and high beams work fine. I've checked all fuses and even replaced the Micro Relay. I've changed the Combo Switch (turn signal/headlight switch) on the steering column also and we still do not have working low beams. Any thoughts ??
You need to trace the circuit and see where you lose it.
Start by disconnecting the headlight connector and see if you have 12V on the car side of the connection. Make sure to have the correct pinout diagram for your car.
