New front speakers non-monsoon system

Hello all,

Two front speakers are not working but am thinking of purchasing some cheap replacements such as below:

http://www.amazon.com/Electronics-NCS-778-6-5-Inch-4-Way-Speakers/dp/B004MN8U0I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3OXP34NZ81ZRV&coliid=I2ZXOYZJMCVVJN
How hard would it be to install since the panel is not round and will need the plastic mounting brackets? If I rip the old speakers from the original plastic mounting bracket, anyone thinks that pust screwing in the new speakers to the bracket should work?

That's exactly what I did with a new pair of 6.5 inch speakers. I cut out the original speakers from their plastic mounts and mounted the replacements to the round plastic mounts by drilling holes where needed. Fit perfectly and sound great.

The original speaker diaphragms were completely rotted out, thus non functional.

If you are going to replace them you might as well get some better ones than those. I bought mine from crutchfield and they give you free mounting brackets when you buy the speakers.

I just installed MTX TN653 (6 1/2 3-way) from crutchfield.

Don't get the MTX TN693 (6x9 3-way) for the rear though.
Crutchfield is right when they say that they DO NOT FIT!!!
I didn't listen because I wanted same model/series speakers front and rear
...........and
They are larger around, holes do not line up, and they are to tall to fit under the rear deck grills.

I modified the mounts, re-drilled new holes, and CLEARENCED the rear deck speaker grills just to make them fit!

But they sound AWESOME. So for me..... Totally worth the extra hours on install.
