2008 3.9L oil pan gasket

I have a 2008 Pontiac g6 3.9L and i have an oil pan gasket leak. I'm looking to tackle replacing the oil pan gasket. I've bee a tech for only a couple of years. I have decent amount of experience and friends that can help. I work at a Ford dealer, so I don't see these kinds of cars come in. My main question is, do I drop the motor to get the oil pan out? Or do I raise the motor?
In all my search of the internet, I couldn't find any kind of guide or video that answers my question. At least not for a 3900.
Any advice or help will be appreciated. Thanks guys
