Troubleshooting unlit heated seat switch

My driver's side heated seat switch no longer lights up. The amber status lights work, as do the heating elements, but the red illumination doesn't work on that side.

Thinking it was an LED issue, I purchased a replacement via eBay, but that one doesn't light up either. Is there some other electrical subsystem I should be looking at?

Here's the diagram for the instrument illumination circuit.

Looks like both heated seat switches have a gray wire coming from the same pin in the rear fuse box, if both switches don't light I would check that, If it's just the driver's side perhaps it's the ground.

Thank you for this. I can't really read it (at least offhand), but at least I know where the grey wire is.

"Sadly" (in terms of complexity), it is only the driver's side. I could swap the passenger side just to confirm, but I'm fairly confident the light won't illuminate, as I've tried three different modules at this point.

But if it's ground, how would I correct (or even diagnose) that? Does that entail running or splicing an entire length of wire?
