Hardtop not going down or up!

I recently bought an 07 Pontiac G6 Convertible. The dealer informed us that the hardtop all of a sudden stopped working. When we try and put the hardtop down from the switch we get the “Top Not Secure” message on the radio. The truck will not open as well. We have to disconnect the battery to get access to the trunk. Do you know what could be the issue? Or what to look for in order to get the hardtop to work?
