91 or 93 octane tune?

I plan on ordering a WAMS tune tomorrow and I was curious on everyones input on whether I should get 91 or 93 octane. I figured the 93 would give me the best output/performance but when reading around I noticed some people went with 91 and im not sure why?

and another question is will I be able to feel a noticeable difference in acceleration or is it all just numbers?

Re: 91 or 93 octane tune?

The reason you can choose between 91 and 93 is because you can get really by 93 octane around the west coast. All their premium gas is 91 where as here in Illinois premium is 93. So its really just so you can match your tune to what gas is available.

With the wams tune you will notice a difference, especially if you have an intake. You literally gain HP from the tune and that translates into slightly better acceleration. Also if the tcm is able to be tune the shift points are changed it revs a little higher. And the high-speed limiter is removed. All in all worth it in my book

Well, I'm not sure with the '05 to be honest, You can double check with WAMS, some cars have the TCM (Trans control module) Inside the transmission...

Others just have the TCM within the PCM.
Mine has two separate modules, but both are easily accessible.

Octane is up to you, generally the higher the octane used the greater the performance. I don't have a programmer for my G6, but I have an SCT for the Durango and at the most I'll run 91 octane. US equivalent we pay $1.412/USgal more to go from 87 octane to 94. It's only a few cents less to drop down to the 91 octane from 94. Only two stations in my city of over a quarter million people sell 94 octane.

Octane here is 87, 89 ,91, 94.

'11 Ram SXT 4x4 quad cab - 5.7L V8; 128,200kms
'09 Malibu 2Lt 3.6L - 140,000kms purchased 1 March 2019

'06 Pontiac G6 GT - 3.5L V6; 162,000kms (rear ended 15 Feb 2019, and given totalled title by insurance)
