WAMS tune installation question

my tune is going to be delivered on thursday or friday and i have a couple of questions...

first is i ordered the 93 octane and my car obviously is on 87 octane right now, so when i go to install it do i have to completley run my car out of gas to install it and then fill her up with 93? or is it ok if i have like 10 miles of 87 left in it and fill it up the rest of the way with the 93? or is it bad to mix the two?

next is i understand its a good safety cation to disconnect the battery before installation, but my negative battery terminal nut is stripped and wont come off for the mean time. will i be ok if i just disconnect the positive terminal? or should i get that stripped bolt off and get both terminals disconnected?

last is there anything other than what i already mentioned i should know before installation?

thanks in advanced!

You can fill up with 93 now, or once you installed your tune, you'll be fine, just once it's installed try to only fill with 93 to prevent any drive-ability issues that could arise.

You can disconnect the positive cable, As long as you disconnect power in some way. Once it's disconnected I'd wait like 10 minutes or so before actually unplugging the PCM, just as a safety measure. I've swapped by ECU's out a couple times. I've disconnected the battery every time, someone told me once that the computer stores power for a few minutes in case the air bags would need to be deployed. Not sure if that is the case or not, but never hurts to just wait a few minutes and let it discharge.

Aside from the 10mm to disconnect the battery you won't need any other tools. Simply a measure of pulling back the plastic clip to remove the PCM, and just unplug and swap in the new one!

Re: WAMS tune installation question

Oh man I know you'll love it! Hopefully you won't need to do the key relearn and hopefully the case relearn isn't a pain to get done

Re: WAMS tune installation question

Any dealer or shop with a GM tech II tool can do it.
I don't even think you can buy a dash hawk anymore. I know I couldn't find the damn thing ANYWHERE. Until I found a buddy who had one at the time. They've since got rid of it, which BLOWS

Ahh alright I was worried for a moment there lol. I just ask them to do a case relearn right? A shop can't flash and screw up my tuned pcm?

I got one of those OBDII wireless adapters for my iphone and ran a 0-60 comparison before and after. btw I have CRAB CAI as well.

before 0-60: 7.8 secs
after 0-60: 7.4 secs

I compared my gas mileage used until I had around 1/4 tank left.

before miles used at 1/4 tank: 220 miles
after miles used at 1/4 tank: 270 miles

I tend to keep my foot out of it unless I really feel the need though.
