Best Performance Mod

I'm looking for the best performance modification for a 3.5L V6. I know cold air intake helps but I just want to know what else i can do for more HP.

I would not say "limted" to four if you are willing to drop a few k's into the engine and tranny you could have a smoking beast

Someone else would know better...? Im not trying to sell you anything!
I didnt even mention any business names did I?

Ive owned my Pontiac G6 since 2005 and its my daily driver.
I think that plus my experience with modifing the car enables me to have an opinion.

Im sorry I offended you. I will steer clear of your threads.

pretty much an intake is an intake. theres engineering involved and a little bit of knowledge on how air flows and a little bit of information about the car you're putting the intake on.

1. the colder the air, the better
2. the shorter the travel, the better
3. don't look at the damn numbers. i've seen claims of 20+ hp increases on big engines but nothing to back it up
4. you can build your own intake from PVC or metal piping(if you have a welder)

At one point, I was going to make my own intake for a previous car out of stainless steel and cover it with "heat wrap" so heat didn't get to it....and put the biggest cone I could find at the end. It would have worked great, but it's overkill.

I want to see a secret weapon-R for the G6.

lol at this thread, I don't think bstubben realized that Lampoon was even in the business. From what I gathered he was just talking about the sales guys in stores and local garages. lol.

You can always get higher compression pistons via Wiseco. They make custom pistons.

You can also get your crank and cams lightened, balanced, and cryotreated. Same with your rods.

I'm sure you can find some bigger injectors and a faster flowing fuel pump pretty easily.

If our car wasn't drive by wire, I'd say that you can put a bigger TB on it...then again, they might all use the same basic signal and could possibly work....

Reading about methanol injection was a pretty fun read when I had my Reno.

Lighter wheels will make a difference. It won't increase HP/Torque, but you will notice that you can burn out easier and accelerate faster. Lighter brakes do the same effect, but I haven't looked for them or heard of them for the G6 yet.

Decreasing heat in your engine bay will increase power and mileage, too. Make some hood vents, use some "hood shims", and/or heat wrap your exhaust. There's a material out there that people use to make "TB spacers" which don't transfer heat. You could use the same material on your exhaust manifolds and even your intake manifold to knock down the AIT and the temperature in the cylinders. Getting a cooler thermostat might help you out as well. Aluminum radiator and upgraded engine fans would help, too.

There's a ton of universal stuff you can do to any and every car. If you know what you're doing, you don't have to buy parts from anyone because you can just make your own.
