cat removal

can you remove the bottom cat from a g6 2.4L
with out throwing a code? there is no sensor before or after this cat it is the one located just before the resonator

No, there is a flex pipe and a cat both of them are just before
the resonator. I was thinking of cutting out the cat and putting a strait
pipe between the flex pipe and where the resonator used to be ( I already cut it out and put in a strait pipe)

you can do that and you most likely won't throw a code. unless your car needs to be tested every year, you'll be alright. you'll get a decent amount of power by putting jsut a straight pipe in its place, but it will probably sound like crap...which people have already proven by using a straight pipe in place of the resonator.

IMO you should replace it with a resonator, then have another resonator before the muffler.
