Question Custom Breather Question

I'm going to remove the vacum line going from the valve cover to the intake pipe and put an air breather filter on the valve cover to replace the vacum line ... would i run into any problems with this set-up?

Yes.... I just dont read every thread.

Its a return line to recycle unspent gasses.
Its not a vent line. Just tie it into whatever intake you are making.

I would not vent it with a filter. Its not a cam breather.

MODS:
Crab Intakes CAB, MPD Ram Air hood, Custom exhaust,
WAMS High Performance Tune and a whole lot more....

The vacuum is going the other way - into the intake system so that the gases being vented from the crankcase have a chance to be burned. It will be things like oil vapor, trace amounts of fuel vapor, other such things. You probably don't want that just venting to under your hood. It would also violate smog control device regulations in all 50 states and the provinces up north.

+1....

I have to say without putting a cab around it or sticking it into the quarter
you will be making something that will decrease performance. Even though,
I agree a shorter intake makes it easier to breath, it will be breathing a ton
of hot engine air. That will affect combustion....and not in a good way.

Im interested to see how you do it though....

@mattinsocal-yeah thats what i thought ... thanks for the explination
@lampoon-i will be sucking in alot of hot enigne air by placing the filter under the hood instead of the passenger bumper but by placing the filter a five feet closer not exagerating at all the car will pull harder low end but it will lose power top end which i don't mind since i dont have a high reving car ... do you think it being place behind the radators cooling fan will be a plus or a negative?
